Myanmar-Yunnan railway canceled due to public opposition

xunzi, all your argument show us that's for China benefit mainly.
other Chinese mem jump up to say difference, when we consider that's unacceptable to let China wholly control that railway for 50 years.

Look at the map, and see the project costs much in China land side. and the connecting ...

That's the difficulty raising by China's need to get connected to Indian Ocean,.

See the Kunming - Haiphong, ... do you know who pay for the project ?over 100 years ago.
It's French.
50 years is like a rent. You earn commission in any transaction if you are the landowner. In this case Burma, they earn money by doing nothing but to rent us the trail. Get smarter, my friend.

And, did China get their answer ?

Like some mentioned earlier.. There is a tug of war in Burma power politics. Some fraction wants to complete this deal because it benefits them. Some don't. They have conflict of interest in their political party. We cannot do anything about it. It's their land, their choice. The money will be spend and invest on alternative route. For example, India and BD route can reach Southwest China but with longer distance. Also don't forget the Kra Isthmus Canal alternative, too.

And travel to the Mars, yutu2. Many thing for wasting your money.
I mean spending.

Well they can also just pay back the 20 billion with interest, low interest. $20 billion is more than 10% of Vietnam economy, it's not a small amount.

We are still a developing nation, not America, we can't go around handing out 20 billions like they can.

As much as it will benefit China, it will benefit them more, since it's in their country, even investment companies now days want a stake rather than payment.

Investing in Myanmar is high risk, and I mean very high risk.

Agreed.

Will Vietnam go to Jupiter with new Vietnam build Jupiter probe named "Viet Son cậu bé bay" ?

Waste of money with cost of $150million USD. Should spend on poor people.

We dont waste money on some trivial projects like u guys. We just focus on creating a strong sub-Mekong region plus strong forces in SCS(east sea) to control China important sea lane forever , thats enough :pop:

I dont know what is good for Vietnam to be part of sub-Mekong since China is also involved, China will certainly take the lead and Vietnam can only follow on the tail as usual :D...and about SCS you can team up with fishes to control our sea lane

The Yunnan–Burma Railway was a failed British project to connect far south-west China's Yunnan province with the recently established rail network in British-ruled Burma.

The British project was working against the background of the successful French Yunnan-Vietnam Railway that had been established on the nearby Hanoi to Kunming route from 1904–1910, some 30 years earlier. To secure the rights to construction, Britain referred to Article IV of the Anglo-French Siam Convention for 'mutual privileges'.
