An armed Rohingya group carried out at least one massacre of Hindu villagers in Myanmar’s conflict-wracked Rakhine state, an Amnesty International report has concluded.

Ethnic conflict has convulsed the southeast Asian country in recent years, with the military accused of slaughtering members of the Muslim Rohingya minority in the majority-Buddhist country.

But the new report from the human rights organisation suggests that a Rohingya group known as the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) killed up to 99 Hindu women, men and children while also abducting Hindu villagers.

“It’s hard to ignore the sheer brutality of ARSA’s actions, which have left an indelible impression on the survivors we’ve spoken to,” Amnesty International’s Tirana Hassan said in a statement.

Myanmar’s government has justified a crackdown on Rohingya residents by saying they were suppressing an armed insurrection after attacks on police posts.

The Rohingya have responded by suggesting that their communities suffered disproportionate and undiscerning government reprisals as a result.

But while the Amnesty report accused Myanmar authorities of orchestrating a frenzy of “unlawful killings, rapes, and burning of villages” targeted at the Rohingya, driving a mass exodus to neighbouring Bangladesh, it said “no atrocities can justify the massacre, abductions, and other abuses” committed against Hindu villagers.

“Accountability for these atrocities is every bit as crucial as it is for the crimes against humanity carried out by Myanmar’s security forces in northern Rakhine State”, Ms Hassan said.

After ARSA members launched an assault on army installations in August of 2017, the report says, Myanmar’s security forces responded with an “unlawful and grossly disproportionate campaign of violence marked by killings, rape and other sexual violence, torture, village burning, forced starvation tactics and other human rights violations”.

Security forces targeted all Rohingya in Rakhine state, the report alleges.

ARSA responded by unleashing violence on Hindu people, according to Amnesty. It says the group killed some Hindu villagers “execution-style” and abducted others, with survivors recounting having been forced to convert to Islam if they wished to be spared.

lol still hard to get that.? u dumbass.

we dont believe any one of them. just let u guys know what even a biased organization has to accept that finally.

Bro they are incapable of reading basic news (like they are incapable of looking at NASA maps for India vs BD urban lighting)....like the fact that 8 Hindu women were interviewed in Rohingya camp in BD itself by amnesty international...and they clearly said ARSA did this to their community (and was corroborated by the Amnesty/BBC visit to rakhine areas).

It's not worth engaging with these BD-tards here, just focus on improving relations with China and India... BD cannot do squat cept squeal within the envelope that their masters set for them. The anger and desperation comes from the promise BAL gave these people that they would send 10,000 of them back to MM each month or something....and so far can count on just one hand I think....because MM signed a good deal where it has final word if the person is legit claim to being MM resident etc.

Indian media has already pounced on this story, it is making a huge difference in ground support/sympathy to MM point of view (combined with Rohingyas here in India being ingrate and quite nasty as well to their hosts). Just give it some more time....you are doing fine...patience is paying off.

Keep the FDI and cooperation going with India and China and ASEAN etc...you will do great. BD members here are just mad about two things fundamentally :

a) When it pops up in the news, it shows BD weakness and failure (and its much more sympathetic to MM now compared to before)...and hypocrisy given BD actions in CHT.

b) Support to MM expelling and BD taking back these ppl is now getting more and more broad support from other (esp) Muslim members here....which promptly makes these BD people declare them as not really muslims, and that explodes right back in their face given 1971 etc.

It is all going to crop up again after NRC in Assam is done (June 30th onwards) as well. MM will get extra support from many in India, even those that are more pro-BD in this forum right now....because I know how these BD members here engage on it after all....and what they resort to when they lose the argument.

Thus they made this bed, they can sleep in it...as angry about it as they are.

Some journalists who met Rakhine’s Hindu survivors as soon as they arrived Bangladesh said they were surprised the way they changed their story over the weeks.

Nurul Islam, Cox’s Bazar correspondent of Dhaka-based newspaper New Age, said he interviewed Anika Dhar on August 28 when she said to him that Myanmar soldiers had killed her husband and seven other relatives.

“Some other journalists too heard the same story from Dhar in the last week of August. But, when I met her in Cox’s Bazar again around the middle of September, she said that she could not identify the killers of her husband and other relatives because they all wore masks,” he said.

Dhar was among a group of eight Hindu women who were later returned to Myanmar in a secret military operation. All eight women told the Myanmar media in October that Rohingya militants killed their relatives and Hindu neighbors.

“I was stunned when I found that Dhar had changed her story for the second time and blamed the Rohingya militants for the killings. The identity of the killers of the Hindus in Myanmar remains a mystery,” Islam said.

Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh said the Hindu survivors are telling lies.

Monir Ahmed, a Rohingya neighbour of Dhar said that when the Myanmar soldiers and Rakhine militia members attacked the Rohingya and Hindus in his village of Fakirabazar on August 27, he managed to slip out.

“Myanmar military, Border Guard Police and the Rakhine men killed 30 Rohingya Muslims and 40 Hindus in that attack. Of course the Hindus were not killed by Rohingya (militants). If the Rohingya militants killed them those Hindu survivors would have never fled to Bangladesh along with us,” he said.

Rohingya refugee Maung Theing Hlaing said the Hindu refugees are telling lies and putting the blame on the Rohingya militants “simply to please the Myanmar government.”

“If the Hindus do not blame the Rohingyas for the killings, they will not be able return to Myanmar. They know if they can please Myanmar government by branding the Rohingyas as the killers they can even occupy the Rohingya-owned lands in Rakhine and live there,” he said.

Keep bitching about it....amnesty is now spreading this news around like wildfire.

Amnesty is more believable (just by being based outside BD to begin with) than any rag piece in BD like

Dhaka-based newspaper New Age

You call 700,000 as bad disaster?....more millions from India coming up. Make room for them too....and you can compare their stories however you want, thinking the world gives a fvck.

But the source of Amnesty is not. They initially fled when their family members were killed by Myanmar Army and later Myanmar Army offered house and land and they changed their story.

Whom they have interviewed and what evidence they have Amnesty should release it. No journalist or investigator are allowed in Rakhine and they arrested Reuters journalists for revealing of killing of the unarmed Rohingyas by Myanmar army.

Kept on having wet dream more is coming. Myanmar is a pariah state and things will not be the same in India as it is touted as the largest democracy.

But the source of Amnesty is not.

According to? Right.... you lot (biased cretins).

Amnesty OTOH has found them credible (same Amnesty that has attacked MM forces on over-reaction/counter-pogroms etc). Amnesty is way more credible (as faulty as they are) than BAL/BD govt. They were the same guys you were relying on when it suited your narrative...but now just one small counter-narrative ...and suddenly your voice is against them in fever pitch.

It shows how flimsy you lot really are, its your complete narrative or bust....and that naturally drives reasonable people away because you have no ability to show nuance/accept grey. In fact only @Avicenna from your side isnt completely on your groupthink feelz plantation. Credit to him.

Sensational story created by the same 8 group of people who were secretly taken to Myanmar by its army operation. What one can expect them to see. These are people changed their version of the story twice. First Myanmar Army killed, then Myanmar army offered land and house then story changed to block masked man, third after secretly going to Myanmar Rohingya militant killed them. The story of forced conversion does not hold ground as well. They were with the hindus as hindus not as muslim in the camp.

The story was covered even in Indian media as well. It concluded who killed it is a mystery. Under Myanmar army control they will say something else is also unthinkable after all they got land and house.

We saw fake video and photos of the house burning of the Rohingyas by Buddhists which was initially tried to be sold as Rohingyas are burning including ARSA and putting blame on Myanmar.

Lastly ARSA repeatedly denied it. If they would have done it there would be no reason for them to deny. They have nothing to gain here. What about the 30 other muslim Rohingyas that were killed on the same incident? ARSA killed them as well?

Manufacturing a divide
The Rohingya insurgent group ARSA has strongly denounced the allegations brought by the Myanmar army.

“ARSA categorically denies that any of its member of combatants perpetrated murder, sexual violence, or forcible recruitment in the village of Fakirabazar, Riktapur and Chikonchhari in Maungdaw on or about 25 August 2017,” the statement issued on Wednesday said.

Who then, killed the Rohingya Hindus in the Rakhine state?

Rohingya refugees say that since ARSA’s attack, the Myanmar army started a deadly crackdown and killed hundreds of villagers regardless of their religious identities.

“The army is playing a game. The Buddhists and government agents attacked the Hindu villages so that they can justify the military crackdown targeted on Muslim eradication,” Mohammad Ayes, who enrolled himself in ARSA in August, told the Dhaka Tribune.

Mohammad Ayes, who joined ARSA a few days before the insurgent attacks, said the government used the conflict between the Hindus and Muslims, and take side of the Hindus as they were working for them.

Ayes argued that since the ARSA combatants do not have any dress code, they do not need to hide their identity with black masks.

“Whoever uses masks, it means they want to hide their identities and commit atrocities. It is a conspiracy against the Rohingya Muslims to prove that what the army is doing is legal and necessary,”

“If Hindus were really attacked by the Muslims, would they not be afraid to escape with the Muslims to get shelter in Bangladesh?” he asked.

Ayes alleged that since the Rohingya Hindus already had Myanmar citizenship and the government had urged them to return, they were blaming Muslims to express their loyalty towards the government.

Another ARSA member who claimed to be a Jimmadar (commander) told the Dhaka Tribune through a messaging app that the corpses the Myanmar army found could be any Rohingya.

“Now they are showing those bodies and forcing the Hindu people to cry in front of the bodies and say that those corpses were their relatives,” he said.

“UN bodies and others are trying to enter Rakhine state to investigate what atrocities were done by the military. So they buried the bodies of Rohingya. If any investigation is carried out the military will be accused for sure. So to destroy the evidence they are posing Muslim bodies as Hindu bodies,” the militant said.

yes. bro
most of the Myanmar understand now understand the importance of asian neighbours. That's why we can resist international pressure that much.
It's not worth engaging with these BD-tards here,
sure. bro just enlighten them. but u know it's hilarious that they cant accept the report from the same organization which was the main source of BD's anti-Myanmar biased news here for last 6 months. LOL
Keep the FDI and cooperation going with India and China and ASEAN etc...you will do great. BD members here are just mad about two things fundamentally :
sure. bro
thankfully , most of the ASEAN members stand with Myanmar in this case. and we have back up from India , China and Russia.so I dont worry about FDI.
b) Support to MM expelling and BD taking back these ppl is now getting more and more broad support from other (esp) Muslim members here....which promptly makes these BD people declare them as not really muslims, and that explodes right back in their face given 1971 etc.
Obviously , I just saw that. bro :D

They initially fled when their family members were killed by Myanmar Army and later Myanmar Army offered house and land and they changed their story.
it was forced by the Rohingya. later , when they reached into hindu community , they can spoke out the truth.

. . .
Quote of the day.
Enjoy...

Nice north Korean type propaganda. As much believable as north Korean state TV news...

it was forced by the Rohingya. later , when they reached into hindu community , they can spoke out the truth.
Really? They can speak out the truth? Thats why your genocidal burmese monkey government doesn't allow any international org to conduct free investigation? :omghaha:

Pathetic baboons...

.
No surprise at all. Good that it brings to light some of the truth. Bravo to the hindu community leaders who helped with this investigation. It's sickening to see people defend an ISIS and Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist group. Now we need to enhance security measures to crack down on the suspects. Good to have India sharing the North Western border with us. Lesser areas to keep a watch on and the presence of intelligence cooperation regarding terrorists :D @Nilgiri

.
Wonder how many Buddhists were slaughtered by the Rohingya militants as well. According to the media it appears that not a single Buddhist has been attacked or killed in the violence when on facebook there are so many videos and photos of Buddhists being slaughtered by the miltants.
