THE HARDCORE, PROVEN, WORLD KNOWN FACTS ABOUT KARGIL WAR, MAINLY, AS NARRATED BY PAKISTANI THEMSELVES:
Faced with the possibility of international isolation, the already fragile Pakistani economy was weakened further. The morale of Pakistani forces after the withdrawal declined as many units of the Northern Light Infantry suffered heavy casualties. The government refused to accept the dead bodies of many officers, an issue that provoked outrage and protests in the Northern Areas. Nawaz Sharif later said that over 4,000 Pakistani troops were killed in the operation
G8 nations supported India & condemned Pakistani violation of LOC at Cologne summit. The European Union too opposed Pakistan's violation of LOC. China, a long-time ally of Pakistan, insisted on a pullout of forces to the pre-conflict positions along the LoC & settling border issues peacefully. The ASEAN Regional Forum too supported India's stand on the inviolability of LOC. Faced with growing international pressure, Sharif managed to pull back the remaining soldiers from Kargil
1) Benazir Bhutto named Kargil War as "Pakistan's greatest blunder". Many ex-officials of the military and ISI also admitted that "Kargil was a waste of time". A retired Pak Army official, Lt Gen Ali Kuli Khan, labelled the war as "a disaster bigger than the 1971 tragedy", adding that the plan was full of flaws in terms of conception, tactical planning & execution". The Pakistani media criticized the whole plan since it only resulted in international condemnation
2) Despite calls by many, no public commission of inquiry was set up in Pakistan to investigate the people responsible for initiating Kargil war. The PML(N) published a white paper in 2006, which stated that Nawaz Sharif constituted an inquiry committee that recommended a court martial for Musharraf, but he "stole the report" after toppling the government, to save himself.
The report also claims that India knew about the plan 11 months before its launch, enabling a complete victory for India on military, diplomatic and economic fronts. A statement in June, 2008 by a former Pakistan Army X Corps Core-commander and Director-General of Military Intelligence (M.I.) that time, Lt. Gen. (retd.) Jamshed Kiani said that as PM, Nawaz Sharif "was never briefed by the army" on the Kargil attack.
In January 2013, Lt. Gen. (retd.) Shahid Aziz, who was the chief of ISI's analysis wing during the Kargil War in 1999, too openly exposed all the till date blatent lies of Musharraf regarding Kargil war (by means of which he had been misleading his own citizens till now), in pakistan's own media. He has nailed all those lies thoroughly & beyond the least doubt.
Former federal minister Lt-Gen (retd) Abdul Majeed Malik, who is an eyewitness to major happenings that took place during the tenure of the second Nawaz Sharif government, says the Kargil operation of Pervez Musharraf was badly conceived, faultily executed and totally unneeded.
“Musharraf’s assertion that the then government turned a won war into a political defeat is erroneous and misplaced. Rather it saved the army and Pakistan from further embarrassment and humiliation, and this was a major achievement.”
Majeed Malik said that the casualties Pakistan suffered in the otherwise limited Kargil battle were perhaps even more than those in the full-fledged 1971 war with India.
Now to my Pakistani friends here, don't troll me. Ask your generals first before blowing smoke rings out here and calling all this rubbish. This isn't a fairy tale I invented. It's straight from the horse's mouth - Pakistani generals themselves!
And oh yes, in one of the interviews, then corps commander X corps, Lt Gen Kayani himself says that Nawaz ran to the US to stop the Indian onslaught as, "Pakistani Army ka izzat ka swaal thha"!
It's on You Tube. Check it out. (Again, this from the horse's mouth - Lt Gen Kayani, GOC X Corps himself, one of the most respected Generals of the Pak Army).
And what about the Pakistani logistics base at Mantho Dhalo? Google it! After it was destroyed by the IAF, supplies dried up and the NLI was without food, water, fuel and ammo. And as you're aware, starving troops can't fight!
