What's new

My Big Fat Pakistani Mansion (BBC Documentary), hopes, dreams and dilemmas for the diaspora...

. . .
some harsh realities. muslims are cruel and they lack humanity.

.
Immigration is part of life , same is story in Italy where population is old , and young people have migrated to other European countries mostly to USA or Canada or to UK or Australia

The homes , are constructed in Pakistan in case the family returns back to Pakistan but most of time they find the new Country they migrate to able to meet theirs needs, as the law and order and other aspect of life are more organized

Interesting video by BBC but they should perhaps also highlight number of British families who retire outside of UK perhaps in sunny weather Spain buy buying property overseas

Also not uncommon to find Canadians owning homes south in USA in warmer climate

Things ultimately force people to Migrate out from Pakistan

a) Security i.e Police efficiency and crime rate figures
b) Slow Judicial System and Countless hurdles related to property & Justice
c) Lack of Federal Hiring System on Merit
d) Health care is a additional factor , which is in mix as well
e) Desire for higher education
f) Less hurdles to run /expand Private Business , better financing offered from banks

Once you get used to the law and order, corruption free environment and basic human decency of the west, it is always going to be difficult to return to the lawlessness, corruption and lack of your value as a common citizen when it comes to Pakistan.

This despite Pakistanis particularly first generation feeling uncomfortable with the cultural environment and toxic Muslim-phobia in the West.

The only people who return are Jaagirdars and Wadiras. Not even children of Generals or civil servants return !

Let's hope IK is able to bring about genuine change. Not only for the people of Pakistan, but Pakistanis all over the world. Of course this won't happen overnight, but steadily.

We, the expats have a huge responsibility in supporting the new government. Not only for our sake, but for the sake of our upcoming generations.

Let me say this much. Who would live abroad when the standard of living in our own country becomes good? There is no place like home.

We know why people build homes and mansions. You just don't know when the sentiment turns against the immigrants. Everyone likes to have an insurance policy. If not for themselves, their children, grandchildren etc. There is already so much going on and let there be no mistake. Even though I or others like me are born and bred in a Western country, we are not them. We are reminded every single day that we are not.

:smokin: And I hate motor cycles #1 cause of theft /robberies and drive by shootings :coffee:

Pakistan as it stood in Nawaz Sharif or Zardari's time has to change for better

  • Needs to be aligned with Modern Nations in term of services

  • Judicial System needs to be super dependable / Fast
  • Police / Security needs to be Super efficient and awake
  • Health Care has to be Top grade
  • Taxation has to be fix so 99% people pay taxes

I understand why PTI is pushing for these reforms at National Level

We all know why the BBC would focus solely on Pakistan. P-a-k-i bashing was invented by our colonial brothers for a reason.

Having said that, the Brits would never focus on their Indian friends. Indians have a much larger presence in Britain. I can assure you that mansions and villas built in India by the Indian expat community easily outnumbers Pakistan. They are also naturally empty. Of course almost all expats around the world earn their income and build houses in their country of origin. That includes people from poorer Western nations. It is funny though how the Brits love to focus on Pakistanis. This is not the first documentary by BBC on this topic.

Well the documentary is a documentary just merely tells a story

It is not. It is more than that. Every story has a purpose.

I live in a Western country. I have lived and studied in the UK at a young age. I understand the mindset and sentiment. There is a true feeling of mistrust among local Westeners for immigrants in general. Why are they spending "our" money abroad? I guess it is human nature.

Well certainly arguable why only focus on Pakistan because such trends are universal world wide. But as we know BBC is always quite intrigued by Pakistan

You only have to go as far as 1971 coverage of Pakistan India war to see how they report certain news

Another BS BBC documentary, another one-sided view by this anti-Pakistani @DANCING GIRL of how awful Pakistan is and how innocent and special those expats are, who badmouth their own country and did odd jobs all their lives with their next generation doing the same. Contains same old hateful rhetoric which you wont find in indian documentaries of bashing of islam and Pakistan. Remain unskilled, poor in mindset, selfish and greedy. Waste millions to build mansions just to show off where there own children never live or stay in. One bald jerk talks about humanity and human rights, but funnily he and his fellow ilk also have been exploiting their villagers. They spent millions on themselves but could'nt give hundreds to build a school, improve sanitation, healthcare in their area. Atleast have a skilled next generation. Saale khud bhi gawaar jaahil who did nothing for their society or improve something. Make make sweeping statements about their own country but don't look in their own underwear.
