Hahaha buddy, even East Asians have trouble telling the difference sometimes.

We do it by listening to them speak (even if they are speaking in Chinese they will have a distinctive accent), and by looking at the clothes they are wearing.

If they were silent and wore the same clothing style as us, even I can't tell the difference.

Not just between Chinese/Koreans/Japanese, but also other East Asian ethnicities, like the Chinese minority group the Zhuang:

The only way you can tell she is from the Zhuang minority group, is the ethnic clothing she is wearing.

So why was it that when I met a few Chinese here in Pakistan & I asked them 'whether they were Japanese' they looked at me as if they'd burn me to crisp if their eyes could fire bolts of lighting !

Naturally we got along very nice afterwards - Some authentic Pakistani Cuisine saved the day !

And this pisses Koreans off to no end.
