Muslims Warn NJ School Board: 'We're Going to Be the Majority Soon

I think America should respect all religions.
As I am not American, I will not discuss this any further than what I have stated.
Have a nice day.

You should see his point if by respecting the religions means giving each and every one of them their holidays then no regular or working days will be left in US schools. US is truly a multi cultural society with so many different people with heir own festivals.

Anyways regards.

I think that then according to him and you, America should also not have Christmas as holiday.
Every religion should be treated equally by the State of US. I guess we all agree to this. Have a nice day.

If respect means holidays, then there will barely be any day left to wok for the Americans.

Pakistan has some population of Hindus, Shikhs, Christians, and many others: Religion in Pakistan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Do you have holidays for all their festivals? Just like Pakistanis are primarily Muslims, Americans are primarily Christians, barring the recent immigrants in last few decades. Don't play by different rules for your country and their country.

majority of what a town? a city? a state? this might happen in Europe but not the U.S

but let me get this right. they want the schools to close for Eid al-Adha. how is that fair to the non-Muslim students/parents, but heck if I was a kid I would be happy just to get a day off school :woot:

How is it fair to my kid when school are closed during Christmas and rosh hashanah (some city). We do not celebrate neither.

So you know, NY and some city in nj closed school for eid ul adha.

'We're going to be the majority soon!' Furious Muslim parents taunt New Jersey school board over religious holiday closure

Things got heated at a Board of Education meeting last week in Jersey City after officials decided not to close schools for the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha.

Despite a number of Muslims showing up to the meeting to advocate that the school changes its schedule, officials denied their pleas, arguing that doing so on such short notice would cause “undue hardship” for the upwards of 10,000 parents who may not have a place to put their children for the day.

NJ has become a big hub for Muslims. Jersey City, Patterson, and surroundings probably already have Muslim majority if not close to it. But regardless, if the schools are accommodating to their children to take the day off, then why make a fuss about it?

There are thousands of other Americans who work and can't change their schedules to accommodate their kids random day off. It doesn't make sense. Nor should this be practiced to in-convene anyone when you are getting the support you need, for your children's religious holidays.

They are more than welcome to try to pass a law if they want to, and I'll wish them good luck as that's a majority's right democratically speaking, if they can prove it. But don't try to ask the schools to be closed to make a political statement. That shouldn't happen.

I like your posts  . I think they may be majorities in a few cities, including some in NJ, a couple in Texas, a couple in Florida, in Minneapolis and Michigan, they already have a majority in a couple of cities I believe, but its unannounced and they just don't exercise it. Which is fine, they are also American citizens and their kids are born here. But my issue is, don't make political statements, resulting in a day off that would be inconvenient for thousands of other families as they'll have to find baby-sitters, day care and all for that one day. Makes no sense.

Some Muslims were so angry over the decision that one official called on security to “take charge” of the situation. According to video footage, at least one person was seen being escorted from the meeting.

“We feel alienated from the Board of Education, we feel alienated from this system,” Omar Abouelkhair told WNBC-TV.

“We’re going to be the majority soon,” warned another.

But it's not as though the school board was totally unaccommodating--Muslim students would still be allowed to take the day off as an excused religious absence. It's seems that wasn't enough for these students and parents, however.

The uproar that took place at the local Board of Education meeting comes as a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies shows that based on census data, Muslims are the fastest growing bloc of immigrants in America.

The largest public school system in the nation---the New York City---has observed a public holiday today and all schools were closed due to Eid ul Adha. This can be a precedent for other metropolitan centers of the U.S. I think the best thing in all of this is that now millions of people will understand (or atleast try to) what Eid is since they'll ask why the schools are closed. This goes true for especially the kids/teenagers and this will hopefully foster a better understand of Islam/Muslim peoples in the United States.

Having said that, "We are gonna be majority" is pure bullsh!t and most likely an angry moment caught on camera now being used by the typical anti-Muslim haters (WND is the source. An ultra right-wing, anti-immigration, anti-Muslim mouthpiece of internet. Offcourse, they'll pick up and circulate this sh!t).

C130, if you have any Muslim friends---go to their house and tell them to make you some good meat dish. They are gonna be over-flowing with meat for next month or so ;)

Did not find any parent complaining in Pakistan.
Even in Pakistan We should have holiday for religious minorities.
During my father's army service, the housecleaner who used to come was given holiday on Eid if he was a Muslim, and holiday on Christmas if Christian by our Army.
I do not have much knowledge so will not talk about it.

We do. Much better than most and certainly better than the Muslims dominated countries.

As I am not American, I will not discuss this any further than what I have stated.
Have a nice day.
The school board's argument is reasonable -- that they cannot close the school base on several days' notice and that there will be no penalties for the Muslim students who take their religious holiday off.

The tears and the anger are dramatics worthy of the theater.

Ok so other school board management has no issue in giving Holidays this year but damn this management. Very hardworking students it has I guess.
BTW having holiday for Jewish religious day is fine but For Islamic religious holiday, how dare they!

these are the kind of people who bring bad name to muslims and Islam.

i agree... the "muslims" shown in the vid are a embarrassment to muslims and islam.

and i don't see why the student girl was crying ( and the girl was in a almost burqa - looks like zakir naik and indian tableeghi jamaatis have made effect in usa too ).

And how they recover the loss of lesson for that day. They have paid fully dues, so excused religious absence is not a solution for their problems.

the jews don't have holiday too.

I can't believe these people you moron you live with the american on their land you even get help yet you try to shut the school for your own reason.

I'd say those are wahabis the trouble makers.

first time i agree with you. :)

This is their(americans) country! Its their decision if they want to close schools or not! If you dont like it then migrate back to a muslim country. Do muslim countries give holidays on christmas, easter or diwali?

you would not want those "muslims" from the vid in pakistan. :)

Silent muslims? Please don't bring mythology here. There are Muslims. And there are non Muslims and non practicing Muslims.

don't you ever get tired of your fake sadness and irritating sanghi sarcasms??
