Before their commanders and families, the soldiers, mostly Bedouins with some Muslim and Christian Arabs who volunteered to join the IDF, swore allegiance to the State of Israel and its defense.

It's quite cool that Saudi Arabians (in particular as they scored the highest percentage, one sample 60.38%!), Palestinians, Jordanians, "Israeli" Bedouins and Egyptians (afterwards other Arabs in the Near East and other MENA people) show the strongest genetic affinity to the ancient Natufian culture (12.500 BC - 9.500 BC) that was not only the first settled Neolithic civilization/community in the world but the first culture and people who introduced farming and built the first known settlements! More so knowing that the Natufians did not hail from the outside whether nearby Europe or Africa! They were indigenous.

Bedouins are probably the people most native to the ancient ME. In the sense that it is the most archaic population of the ME. It is very likely that only the rapid climate changes in the past few millennia changed their ancient ancestors way of life.

At least we now know that their ancestors were not only the first sedentary people but also the first agriculturalists in not only the MENA but the entire world!
Quite surreal but I am in fact not too surprised as I suspected this given them being the most archaic native population and the oldest known that exists today in the MENA region. I really hope that DNA samples and this part of history will be given much more attention in KSA and the Arab world as a whole as our region of the world is absolutely central to human history. Not surprisingly this exciting and quite crucial news was only shared on a single Arab forum that deals with genetics. No mainstream media reported its findings. Of course nothing else was to be expected!

Sounds familiar if we take a look at the past 1.5 century! Then we should not be surprised at the sad state of affairs on this front!

I stopped following this field closely a few years ago but this recent finding showing the DNA of the world's first farmers and other ancient Neolithic populations in the Arab world and MENA region awoke my curiosity. What's better there are many more "unsolved" mysteries when it comes to human DNA and I am sure that more exciting findings will emerge in the near future.

This forum is not the place to discuss such topics but since this relates to Palestinians and especially is relevant in discussions about "who came first" or "who has the biggest ancestral claim to their land" I thought that this would interest you brother. This is just another confirmation, as I wrote previously, but a confirmation using the most ancient human samples available to us from a known settled civilization.
