Muslim nations denounce Myanmar’s persecution of Rohingya Muslims
Mon Sep 4, 2017 3:3PM

A Nobel laureate and several Muslim nations have strongly denounced and staged protests against Myanmar's government over persecution of Muslim Rohingya minority in the western state of Rakhine.

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate, said in a statement posted on social networking website Twitter that her “heart breaks” at the sufferings of Rohingya Muslims. She demanded that Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi condemn the violence against the Rohingya minority.

“Over the last several years, I have repeatedly condemned this tragic and shameful treatment,” Yousafzai said, adding, “I am still waiting for my fellow Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi to do the same. The world is waiting and the Rohingya Muslims are waiting.”

Suu Kyi has done next to nothing to end the plight of the minority Muslims.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has also voiced deep concern over reports of a growing number of deaths and the forced displacement of Rohingya Muslims. Islamabad has urged Myanmar’s government to investigate reports of massacre and to hold those involved accountable.

Meanwhile, Indonesian President Joko Widodo has called for an end to the violence in Rakhine state. The president also sent his Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to Myanmar, where she with met Monday with Suu Kyi and armed forces commander Min Aung Hlaing.

In an interview with Indonesian TV, Marsudi sidestepped questions about domestic pressure in the world’s most populous Muslim nation to sever diplomatic ties with Myanmar.

PressTV-Watch: In solidarity with Rohingya Muslims
A group of students in Indonesia have held a demo in front of Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta to express their solidarity with Rohingya Muslims.

“God willing, we would be able to directly help the Rohingya refugees,” the top Indonesian diplomat said, adding, “The priority is the safety of the Rohingya refugees.”

Muslims hold anti-Myanmar rallies in Indonesia

On Monday, several hundred Muslim women demonstrated outside Myanmar’s embassy in the Indonesian capital Jakarta. They called for the government to take a tougher stance against the Rohingya Muslims’ persecution.

Protesters held big banners that read, “Unite the people to free Rohingya Muslims” and “Stop Muslim genocide in Myanmar!”

“The world remains silent in the face of the massacre of Rohingya Muslims,” said Farida, an organizer of protest who used a single name.

“They have been tortured and killed like animals by Buddhists in Myanmar,” she told the crowd outside the embassy, adding, “We demand mobilization of our military to rescue the Rohingya.”

Over the weekend, angry protesters in Jakarta set fire to a poster of Suu Kyi outside the Myanmar embassy.

Dozens of armed police are guarding Myanmar’s embassy in Jakarta, which is cordoned behind barbed wire, after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at it over the weekend.

Local media reports said that further protests are set for this week. One group plans to stage a protest at Borobudur, a famous ancient Buddhist temple in central Java.

Hezbollah denounces Rohingya persecution

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement, in a Monday statement, denounced the “heinous” crimes against the Rohingya.

“These oppressed people who are subjected to the most heinous massacre are, in fact, victims of the Myanmar regime’s crimes … and global plots that have targeted them and other Muslims in the world,” read part of the statement.

Hezbollah called for global protest against the massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine.

Chechens protest against Rohingya plight

Meanwhile, thousands gathered in Russia's Chechnya region to protest against the plight of the Rohingya.

"Stop this bloodshed. We demand [that] the guilty are punished and crimes against humanity are investigated," Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov told the large crowd in central Grozny in a live broadcast on local television. "I am convinced that hundreds of millions of people around the world will hear our demand."

The protest in Chechnya drew hundreds of thousands of people from across the Russian Caucasus, according to reports.

This comes as the latest eruption of violence in Rakhine state has killed more than 400 people and triggered an exodus of Rohingya to Bangladesh.

Human Rights Watch says satellite imagery shows 700 buildings were burned in the Rohingya Muslim village of Chein Khar Li, just one of the 17 locations in Rakhine state where the rights group has documented burning of homes and property.

According to the United Nations, at least 87,000 refugees from Rakhine state have fled to neighboring Bangladesh since violence escalated in late August, overwhelming existing camps for the displaced.

Bangladesh forces 2,000 Rohingya off remote island

In a separate development on Monday, Bangladesh authorities forced more than 2,000 Rohingya Muslims to leave a remote island where they were hiding out after fleeing violence in Myanmar.

The vast majority have entered overland or by crossing the Naf border river. But as desperation grows, some are braving the open seas to reach the small island of St Martin's nine kilometers off Bangladesh's coast.

Officials said the island's 9,000 residents, who share close cultural ties with the Rohingya, had been hiding around 2,000 recent arrivals but were ordered to give them up.

Farid Ahmed, an elected official said that 2,011 Rohingya Muslims, including children, were rounded up at the coast guard headquarters on Sunday evening and taken away.

Bangladesh coast guards have intercepted and turned away hundreds more refugees as they tried to approach the island.

Bangladesh was already home to around 400,000 Rohingya Muslims before the current crisis and has made clear it does not want to take in more.

Myanmar’s government brands more than one million Rohingya Muslims in the country as “illegal immigrants” from Bangladesh. Rohingya Muslims, however, have had roots in the country that go back centuries. They are considered by the UN the “most persecuted minority group in the world.”

There have been numerous eyewitness accounts of summary executions, rapes, and arson attacks by the military since the crackdown against the minority group began.

The United Nations believes the government of Myanmar might have committed ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity in its crackdown.

@idune, please send us photographs of people surrounding Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka, if any. I have not yet seen/read any such accounts from a newspaper. I suggest the coward BD people wear bangles and saree to prove others that they are indeed a bunch of talk only Hijra nation. Do you agree with me? How about awarding a Nobel Peace Prize to Begum Hasina, as well?

It is funny that the Muslim world is voicing their concerns over the plight of Rohingyas whereas a country which should be on the forefront highlighting and supporting Rohingyas is infact offering to crush them, how pathetic given the fact that Rohingyas are ethnically Bengalis.

http://indianexpress.com/article/in...mar-army-aid-against-rohingya-rebels-4818530/

No offense but pathetic Bangladeshi leader is so selfish that she said that it is none of her concern and she believes Myanmar govt is treating Rohingyas properly.

.
To me the correct steps are

1- Align foreign policy with Pakistan
2- Visit Pakistan and hold dialog on cooperation to resolve or help the issue on diplomatic front
3- Support Pakistan on Kashmir

And we will use our political strength to help with crisis

Before saying billsh1t you need to know what's going on. BD has sheltered around a hundred thousand Rohingyas this time. BD has condemned action of Myanmar army when violence first erupted. Unlike others we didn't waited for thousands to get killed. We asked US, UN, OIC and others a d they do nothing other than offering useless lip service. So please you are in no position to criticize BD because BD is doing much more than anyone else in that matter.
1- Align foreign policy with Pakistan
No.

2- Visit Pakistan and hold dialog on cooperation to resolve or help the issue on diplomatic front
No.

3- Support Pakistan on Kashmir
No.

And we will use our political strength to help with crisis
You have no political strength.

. .
In that case we will be enjoying our Eid break in Pakistan , you deal wih your own issues on border
That's what you are doing. What you have done other than asking Myanmar to investigate Myanmar the matter? Heck you are even selling weapons to them. It's alright to stay away from conflicts that doesn't bother you. But then don't come here and say you care.

.
Good you feel how we felt when you supported India on Kashmir all that time
As I said time for your Leaders to sit back and evaluate if they are with India or with Muslim countries on general matters of interest

Otherwise we are just wasting time here if your PM needs diplomatic help she should visit Pakistan and discuss matter of mutual interest and support each other on united front

The half and half approach I am afriad is not going to work

We are looking at a declaration of support to Kashmiri freedom and in return we will help with the refugee crisis and help mediate a peaceful resolution (It's called Diplomacy)

Chechen strongman draws huge crowd over Rohingya plight
SAM Staff, September 5, 2017
rohynga-1.jpg

Thousands gathered in Russia’s Chechnya region Monday for an officially staged rally over the plight of Myanmar’s Muslim Rohingya minority that placed local strongman Ramzan Kadyrov at odds with the Kremlin.

A total of 87,000 mostly Rohingya refugees have arrived in Bangladesh since violence erupted in neighbouring Myanmar on August 25, with some alleging massacres by security forces and Buddhist mobs.

Kadyrov — who rules the mainly-Muslim Chechnya region in southern Russia with an iron fist — is a fierce loyalist of President Vladimir Putin, but has also sought to present himself as influential figure for Muslims worldwide.

“Stop this bloodshed. We demand the guilty are punished and crimes against humanity are investigated,” Kadyrov told the large crowd in central Grozny in a live broadcast on local television.

“I am convinced that hundreds of millions of people around the world will hear our demand.”

The outspoken protest in Chechnya — which Kadyrov claimed drew “hundreds of thousands” of people from across the Russian Caucasus — represented a rare public divergence between the leader and the official line from Moscow.

Russia has been muted over the latest violence in Myanmar and earlier this year reportedly even blocked a UN statement expressing fears over the situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine state.

Russia and Myanmar are also allies who signed a military cooperation agreement last year, with Moscow of having exported military aviation and artillery to the country.

The country’s foreign ministry said Sunday that is was “closely following” the current situation and was “concerned by reports of ongoing armed clashes that have caused casualties among civilians and government security forces.”

Kadyrov — who rights groups accuse of rampant abuses — has previously staged a mammoth demonstration against the French satirical publication Charlie Hebdo over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

The latest rally in Chechnya came after some 1,000 Muslims gathered in Moscow Sunday to protest outside Myanmar’s embassy in the city.

Burma soldiers 'burning bodies of Rohingya Muslims' to conceal evidence
Buddhist civilians participating in mass killings, says campaigner
Harriet Agerholm
@HarrietAgerholm
Soldiers and civilians in Burma are attempting to cover up the massacre of the country’s Rohingya Muslim population by gathering their bodies and burning them, an advocate for the minority group has said.

Chris Lewa, director of the Arakan Project, which monitors violence in Burma’s Rakhine state, said her organisation had documented the killing of at least 130 people in one settlement in the Rathedaung region.

She added that there were reports of three other villages where “dozens” of people had been killed.
Rohingya Muslims fleeing Burma recall the horrors they left
“A minimum of 130 people have been killed actually we think it’s more,” she told Newsday on the BBC World Service.

“The security forces have encircled villages and then [shot people] indiscriminately, but we also found that – compared perhaps to the violence that took place in October [and] November last year – there is more involvement of the local Buddhist population together with the military."

She added: "We have reports of at least three other villages where at least dozens of people have been killed."

“What we have found ... is that now after the killings the military and other civilians are actually gathering the dead bodies and burning them so [as] not to leave any evidence."

Rohingya children 'beheaded and burned alive' amid 'genocide' in Burma
The reports had not yet been confirmed and the Arakan Project had not yet carried out detailed interviews with victims in Bangladesh, but it had monitors that that were "still active inside Myanmar”, she said.

Burmese security officials and insurgents from the Rohingya have accused each other of burning down villages and committing atrocities in Rakhine state.

Almost 400 people have died in the recent unrest, with campaigners accusing the Burmese military accused of committing crimes against humanity.

Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has accused Burma's forces of genocide

According to the UN's refugee agency an estimated 73,000 people have crossed the border into Bangladesh since violence flared on 25 August, leaving refugee camps near full capacity.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has called on Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's de facto leader, to condemn the “tragic and shameful” treatment of the Burma's Muslim Rohingya people.

Ms Yousafzai told her fellow laureate that the “world is waiting” for her to act over the unrest.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson warned Ms Suu Kyi that the treatment of the ethnic minority group was “besmirching” the country's reputation.

Why can't Myanmar be sanctioned?
Who will sanction them?
1.China is the biggest enabler.
2. India likes what they are doing.
3. USA happy that Muslims are getting killed.
4. Muslims countries don't care.
5. Pakistan selling them jets.
6. ASEAN countries don't care. Indonesia, Malaysia wants to be friendly with them no matter what happens to Rohingyas.
7. So, Muslim countries will only offer some lip service and then do nothing. Rest of the world won't even offer lip service.
