Quran: Muslims and Non Muslims. believers and Non believers

Bible: Also talks about Christians.

This causes hatred and division between people. You can see different treatment is meted out to Muslims and Non Muslims in Quran. It divided people and makes its followers extremely intolerant of the Non Muslims.

I see Christianity and Islam as new religions. They came along at a time when most old civilizations and religions and theologies had already pretty much not only established and spread but also peaked.

Which is why I see in both a need to preach a difference, a separateness, a superiority of ideas. The need to convert.

While old religions pretty much took seed and grew and evolved naturally, organically, and within its own bloodlines and geographies for the most part.

Another contributor was (or could have been) the age of exploration. The world becoming a smalller place, of man traveling more, further. But that to me is neither here nor there when one sees the great conquerors and warrior kings and transcontinental armies of the past. They were invasionary forces, but not religious (evangelical) forces.

There were no Kingdoms of God in other words, till Christianity and Islam came along.

Ya, but he specializes in Jesus. For you he is only one of the prophets. Hence my skepticism regarding your claim.

I'm light on the intricacies. Could you explain?

You wrote this .

Quran do talk about the second coming of Jesus and there are many verses on this. Jesus is an Important Prophet in Islam

Religions were borne from man's inherent compulsion to justify his existence. At first shaman religions evolved in which anything mystifying was worshipped like thunder, fire, rain etc.

As man evolved and started understanding his environment better, then codification of religions started, with always the essence of getting rewarded for good deeds and being punished for bad ones, in the afterlife or reincarnation. Soon priests became the caretakers of religion, and as one religion was corrupted, new ones were born mostly to counter the the misuse of the power structure of the earlier religion.

They were all used by kings as political tools, as was politically, cultural and economically expedient and convenient at the time. Nothing else.

How else can you explain the justification of slavery, class system, gender inequalities etc to name a few universally acknowledged evils in today's world, within the scriptures of almost all the major religions.

The greatest gift mankind got was the power to think, and when all religions started with essentially the same philosophy of doing good, this gift should be exercised to differentiate between the essence and the corruption of any religion one follows.

I purposely stayed away.

All of us bunked classes and watched the match together. Then we drank and smoked a lot on top of a nearby hilltop which has a mandir and a lone banyan tree.

Returned back only the next day post lunch.
