Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood issues a statement denouncing the violent attack in Sinai Friday, and mourning the dead soldiers
Sunday, October 26,2014 21:18

The Muslim Brotherhood offers its deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs of our soldiers and prays God to heal the injured - all of whom victims of the massacre of Friday, October 24, 2014.

The Brotherhood condemns this heinous crime and holds the coup leader and his top commanders responsible for the killing of the soldiers in a conspiracy of local, regional and international intelligence agencies. The Brotherhood also condemns the army commanders' deviation from their primary mission to killing protesters in the streets and universities and killing Egyptian soldiers with their complicity and negligence.
The Muslim Brotherhood believes the shedding of blood of any Egyptian is forbidden. The group holds the junta and its leaders responsible for the continued failure in the security, economic and social fields, as experienced by all the people, especially the people of the Sinai, who have always been Egypt's the first line of defense throughout history – and refuses, along with the whole Egyptian people, the displacement of the people of Sinai and the evacuation of the Sinai Peninsula.
The Muslim Brotherhood exhorts the people of Egypt to close ranks, unite and stand as one to confront the junta, which works to sabotage Egypt, divide its people and destroy its army.

A new message from Egypt's elected President Morsi, now held captive by the military junta.

To the great people of Egypt…

I congratulate you all for the new Hijri (Islamic) year, as our homeland witnesses the height of your continuing Revolution and the determination and power of Egypt's youth. I congratulate you, as I feel reassured of your Revolution against this lame coup and its commanders and collaborators who want to subjugate this country. They will fail abjectly. In fact, the coup leaders are already terrified of their fate and the punishment that awaits them for the crimes they've committed against the great Egyptian people.

I would also like to announce clearly that I have refused, and am still refusing, all attempts to negotiate or compromise on the constants of the Revolution or the blood of the martyrs. Those are attempts to help the corrupt criminals to continue to enjoy enslaving the people they never deserved to belong with – not for one day.

I would like to stress to all revolutionaries active on the ground as well as their leaders, councils, alliances, symbols, thinkers and students: "No recognition of the coup, No retreat from the Revolution, No negotiation or compromise on the blood of the martyrs".

I wish all our revolutionary people a great new year. I wish all of you freedom forever. I certainly believe God will help this Revolution to ultimate victory. My confidence in your strong determination and powerful action is unshakable.

I will not leave prison and go home until my detained sons and daughters of the Revolution are released before me. My life is not more worthy or precious than the lives of the honorable martyrs of the Revolution. My resilience and determination are derived from the resolve of our selfless youth in all universities and liberty squares of the Revolution. I have not and will not forgo retribution for the martyred soldiers assassinated by treacherous criminals after the coup turned the whole country into rivers of blood. I believe only the Revolution will heal this homeland's wounds.

Complete your Revolution, sure of a near victory. God will never let you down.

We will meet, soon, and the Revolution will have achieved its objectives and honored popular will.

Mohamed Morsi

how is it irrevelent? can you eleborate it

The Muslim Brotherhood as an organisation is irrelevant, it can no longer operate legally within Egypt nor can it generate mass protests or movements. It's leadership is imprisoned or in Qatar/Turkey etc, due to its hierarchical structure that means it is now unable to organize effectively, its charitable and social works have been taken over by the government and NGOs. It has no real control and command over its members and affiliates and as a result people linked to the MB continue to be arrested, charged, and convicted for aiding, funding, or perpetrating the same acts of violence the organization condemns.

The MB is as relevant as potatoes, however, political and militant Islam is still very much relevant in Egypt as are the predominantly liberal student movements which political Islamists have jumped on and are trying to warp as so they appear to be 'anti-coup' movements.
