Musharraf’ nomination papers rejected
DAWN.COM
KASUR: The Returning Officer in Kasur’s NA-139 constituency has rejected the nomination papers of former President Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf for the coming general elections.

A local lawyer, Javed Kasuri Advocate, had raised objections over the candidacy of Musharraf, saying that he does not qualify to contest elections under Article 62, 63 of the constitution.

The returing officer, Mohammad Saleem, accepted the objections and rejected the former dictator’s nomination paper.

Musharraf filed paper to contest the general elections from four seats, Karachi, Islamabad, Chitral and Kasur.

Meanwhile, a Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Zafarullah, on behalf of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s (PML-N) Ahsan Iqbal, has filed an application before the Election Commission seeking disqualification of Musharraf alleging that he can not contest polls due to his involvement in four cases, the Akbar Bugti killing case, the Lal Masjid case, the Benazir Bhutto killing case, and the missing persons case.

Reminds me of a Bollywood Song: Mere to L lag gaye....:crazy_pilot:

his papers for said constituency were rejected; doesnt mean that he can't contest!

Atleast he is better than other anti[pakistani elements i.e. PPP, PML(N), MQM, ANP etc. They will never want him to win. Well if IK partners with him it will be a good combination for Pakiostan's interests and only those will cry who are not in the favor of Pakistan.

He should have been jailed. Well it would show some great strength of the ECP if he is made ineligible for contest in elections.

Candidates can contest election for several seats. So what happens if papers are rejected for one constituency based on whatever reason? Does that objection apply to all other constituencies that the candidate is applying for? If not, then it means discriminatory standards. If it does, then multiple nomination papers are rejected by one election officer.
