While US officials are openely critisizing ISI, both Nawaz Sharif and Zardari are busy fighting instead of responding to these allegations.

Well as usual, President Musharraf had to make the statement to reflect the sentiments of ordinary Pakistanis.

Musharraf dismissed allegations that the Inter-Services Intelligence agency has links to Taliban and al-Qaeda.

"I reject them with all my force. ISI is a great organisation, ISI protects and projects our national interest and... it does whatever any other intelligence organisation of the world does," he said.

Many thanks to Allah for a leader like Musharraf who say what people hope to hear from their leaders. Here are the details of chat before departing for China:

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has to fight terrorism with all its might but cannot allow any foreign forces to conduct operations within its territory, former
President Pervez Musharraf said on Sunday.

"I think it's very clear that Pakistan is in danger from terrorism and extremism... We have to fight it with all our will and power but we cannot allow any outsider, any country to intrude across the border into Pakistan," he told reporters at the airport before leaving for China.

Asked about reports that the US is planning to expand its operations against militants in Pakistan's tribal areas, Musharraf said: "Certainly they must not attack across the border. Pakistan has its sovereignty to guard and no outsider has a right to come across the border into Pakistan. We must take a very serious view of anything of this sort."

Replying to another question about calls for his trial on charges of treason for violating the constitution, he replied, "We will cross the bridge when we come to it. We will see when something comes up."

Musharraf also brushed aside demands that he should face trial for ordering a military operation against radical elements holed up in Islamabad's Lal Masjid in July 2007, saying "lots of lies" were being spread about the incident, including claims that hundreds of people were killed by the army.

He said only 93 people were killed in the operation and people claiming the toll was higher should provide proof to back up their contention.

Musharraf, who is visiting China as a guest of the government of that country, said he would also travel to Abu Dhabi before returning to Pakistan in mid-April.

After resigning in August last year to avoid impeachment, Musharraf has been visiting several countries to deliver lectures.

He is no longer holding any office. He is an ordinary person, like me and you. He has no political or any kind of future in Pakistan so he and his comments are irrelevant. He has touched to such lows that he was visiting Pir Pagara in his Kangry House. Who cares what he is saying? On the other hand each and every move of Zardari and NS is under the microscope. Are they representing the sentiments of Pakistanis, 'No', but Musharraf's bickering would change anything, answer is also 'No'. ‘So’ choohey kha kar billi hajj ko chali’.

he is not an ordinary person ... he is a guest of the Chinese govt. this week and people pay attention to what he says ... entire media quote him as soon as he gives an opinion so he is not an ordinary person.

Future is only known to Allah but we all have hopes. My hope is that people of Pakistan realize that he is not wearing any uniform and he is eligible to be elected.

Let me ask you this, would you vote for him if he takes part in election against the likes of Zardari and NS?

If not then why not?

If he runs for an election against Zardari, my vote goes to Musharraf, no question about that. He is better by miles when I compare his character with that of Zardari's. However, between him and NS, my vote goes to NS. Only because NS did not do things that make Musharraf controversial.

The only voice that rose to defend Pakistan military.

Gen. Musharraf is the most loyal, devoted and valiant leader Pakistan had in decades. Even out of office, his exemplary devotion to Pakistan is undeniable.

We miss you sir.

Wasn't it better if the voice was made by the Pakistani public? Has anyone thought why our once beloved Army has lost the popular public support? If it was mid 1960s and America or any other country had used this kind of language for the PA, don’t you think people were on the roads recording their protest? Our military establishment has to consider this troublesome trend. No military can do its job without the support of its people.

When Lal Masjid episode happened, I was visiting my parents in Pakistan. I understand that Abdul Rasheed Ghazi took things to a point of no return? He was openly challenging the writ of the GoP, and GoP had all the legal as well as moral right to stop him from doing that. However, several things could have been done to make him surrender. The commando operation should have opted as the very last resort. GoP could have used Moulana Aziz to bring his brother down to his knees, but after presenting him on the TV, that chance was trashed. One has to understand that Pakistanis in general respect religious figures, even if they are thugs in the guise of a Mullah (Fazlur Rahman is one such example). One should admit that the GoP handled the whole Lal Masjid thing very immaturely and naively. This left a very bad impression of PA on the ‘average Joe’ Pakistani. Especially the deaths of the female students generated no sympathy for PA.

Pakistan Army has to work hard to win back the confidence of the Pakistani public. Otherwise this time nobody will be able to say “Thank God, Pakistan is saved”.

Dont be suprised that he comes back in the future for those u are not with that idea he was a great leader, a great solider and is a good man so lets see wat happens !

.
Let clear somthing about Musharraf, He is working as Pak military international PR chief. He is facing world press with " some" capacity and PPP also want him to face the world. He is first person who really saw terrorism with own eyes. He is going ten day visit to China, then going to UAE. His job is to clear misconceptions about ISI and Pak army. And he is doing well. Plus world news media is giving him coverage with seriousness.

You guys make me sick. Mushy may be devoted to the PA, but his devotion to democracy is shaky, to say the least. Why didn't he step down quietly rather than commit a coup against his own president?

.
Yes just like Bush made us all the sick right? u dont seem to know or understand the way things run in Pak my friend until then u are the only one making your self sick commiting coup isnt that easy as said there were alot of things attached but i do hope he come back in the near future!

And why such strong opnions? This is a Pakistani Forum, for Pakistani's. You are very welcome as a guest but opnions such as this should be kept to yourself.

Let me remind you that despite all his faults, Mush did more for Pak and your the US of A then any other gov. Do you even know the history of Mr. Nawaz Shariff? Do you know how Mush cam to power and why the coup was necessary?

You find his devotion to DEMO CRAZY shaky, i find your knowledge of Pakistani affiars shaky. Why do we make you sick? That statement just puzzles me! Why would you say such a thing about a fellow human being?

My statement was not meant as a personal attack, but as a cry of despair, an expression of just how weak democracy is in Pakistan, that people have more faith in a usurping general than in an elected president.
