RAWALPINDI -
Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri confessed before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) here on Saturday that he while following the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah shot dead former Governor Punjab Salman Taseer outside a restaurant in Islamabad for his blasphemous statements.
ATC No. 2 Judge Syed Pervez Ali Shah, while taking up the case at Adiala Jail, noted down the statement of Qadri, the assassin of former Governor Punjab Salman Taseer. In this statement, Qadri admitted before the judge that no body intimidated him to do so.
The court later adjourned the hearing till September 24. Qadri’s father Malik Bashir Awan and brother Malik Dilpazir Awan were also present during the hearing of the case.
Raja Shujah-ur-Rehman, lawyer of Qadri, told media persons outside Adiala Jail that his client had also submitted a written statement of 40 pages, referring to 11 Quranic verses, 28 quotes from Sunnah, four decisions of the the Righteous Caliphs and the views of Imam Hanfi, Imam Shafi, Imam Malik, Imam Hanbal, Imam Jafferi and several other eminent Muslims jurists and with reference to Islamic jurisprudence about blasphemy, with the ATC under Section 265-F (5) of the CrPC.
In his statement, Shujah informed, Qadri has explained that under these references, Taseer had committed blasphemy and every person who commits blasphemy or supports a blasphemer or doubts that the punishment of blasphemer is unjustified or practically tries to abolish sentence is liable to death. “Taseer was a Murtid (defiant) for marrying a Sikh woman,” Qadri claimed in his statement.
The defence lawyer stated that prosecution raised no objection over the statement of Qadri, therefore the court validly admitted this statement and made it a part of court record.
Responding to a query, Shujah said that personal conduct of a national leader, who desired to lead the people, was public property and every citizen of Pakistan had a right to question every leader’s conduct. This right has also been exercised by Qadri in this trial, he added.
Meanwhile, the law enforcement agencies made strict security arrangements inside and outside of Adiala Jail during the proceeding of the case.

Qadri confesses killing Taseer

Anyone who had raised any objection to that religious hogwash would have been beheaded right in front of the court by the hydrophobic followers of the true religion. Schizos like Qadri poses a danger to peaceful societies and have no place in this modern world hence he should be hanged and dispatched to jahan'num as soon as possible. His release will have far-reaching impact on this country which has already sunk neck-deep in the mire of religious intolerance and fanaticism. I'll consider it the ultimate step towards the total destruction of this country at the hands of religious fanatics if this maniac is get released. We have to humiliate this hero of dark forces, we have to rout the very cult he is representing otherwise the future of this country is doomed.

If this guy can refer to "11 Quranic verses, 28 quotes from Sunnah, four decisions of the the Righteous Caliphs and the views of Imam Hanfi, Imam Shafi, Imam Malik, Imam Hanbal, Imam Jafferi and several other eminent Muslims jurists and with reference to Islamic jurisprudence about blasphemy, with the ATC under Section 265-F (5) of the CrPC"

He is a good Muslim, God can judge him better. Pakistani government should release him.

. .
this retard , psyco , murderer should be sent to gallows , sooner the better.

This "retard" knows more about Islam than me, and maybe you too.

A good Muslim also obeys the law of the land .... does not take it in to his own hands

When the law of the land doesn't do anything, people are forced to take it in to his own hands.

Qadri's lawyer's statement:
Responding to a query, Shujah said that personal conduct of a national leader, who desired to lead the people, was public property and every citizen of Pakistan had a right to question every leader’s conduct. This right has also been exercised by Qadri in this trial, he added.

A completely false statement with respect to facts. Qadri did not question the leader. Qadri executed his self-assessed judgement on the leader, when he had no right to do so.

This act of Qadri for going beyond his rights and executing the victim before even questioning him shall be taken as premeditated murder, because Qadri's job was to rather protect the man.

One really interesting question: In the headline, where did the word "honorably" come from? Why couldn't they say that Qadri showed no remorse while confessing to the crime?

. . .
So people should all become vigilantes ?

No, but this guy has the general support of the population, almost Batman like.

Does he? You're a Pakistani, enlighten me. Last I heard, people were showering rose petals on him.

. .
Does it look like I support him ?
in fact I am against this whole blasphemy law

LOL, wasn't talking about you specifically. I'm talking about Pakistanis in general.

You're in Pakistan right.. What's the general consensus about him on the street?
