Pakistan were saved by a last-minute goal by Ali Mubashar as the Men in Green pulled off a draw 2-2 against India at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

India opened the scoring with Dilpreet Singh in the 12th minute, while Harmanpreet Singh doubled their lead the 19th minute.

However, Pakistan made a comeback courtesy Muhammad Irfan Jr’s goal and reduced the deficit to just one goal.
India must have started celebrating their victory against Pakistan, but a last-minute set piece attempt gave the latter a much-needed goal and a point too in their second match of the Games.

“We simply did not play to our potential today,” India’s chief coach Sjoerd Marijne said as quoted by Hockey India. “Losing our head in this game gave way to too many unforced errors and we did not play to the rhythm that we usually do.”

He added that India need to set their focus on the next match against Wales. “This is a setback for us, but we need to come-back strong. The leaders in the team need to step up and lead the team by making good on-field decisions and ensure we stick to our game plan,” Marijne said.

This was Pakistan’s second draw in as many matches as earlier they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wales.

They will take on England in their next fixture on April 8.

Good but we should have won it. Better luck next time.

I remeber watching the 2012
Asian Chanpionship Final in Qatar; India vs Pakistan. These matches are always great to watch. What talent Sohail Abbas was.

Congratulations on the last minute goal. :pakistan:

Pakistan hockey is not what it used to be, it has already taken a nose dive and hit the rock bottom due to politics, corruption and mismanagement of the PHF. Unfortunately hockey is only limited to small cities like gojrah. Big nurseries like Karachi are not producing anything at all, there was a time when almost half of the hockey team was from Karachi.

We might have more AstroTurf in Karachi but lot less enthusiasm and players, in fact club hockey is almost seized to exist.

Pakistan should revive Grass hockey and seperate the turf hockey from Grass hockey nations that want to play it on turf let them play on turf with 100 substiute player and nations who want to play on Natural grass should be left to play on Grass

Unlimitted Substitution has ruined the already ruined game as element of Fitness and Stamina is erased from game and it is all about Penelty Corners

For Pakistan the Biggest Hurdles is Lack of Professional Pay Structure for Hockey players like PSL

When players can earn 80,000 USD - 110,000 USD per year as hockey player on pro contracts only then we will see some Improvements

PHF needs to be headed by someone like Najam Sethi.
