MQM submits resolution in NA for deportation of Afghans before census

The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Pakistan on Tuesday submitted a resolution in the National Assembly demanding all Afghan immigrants living in Pakistan be deported to Afghanistan before the national population census commences on March 15.

MQM MNAs in their resolution said that there are some 2-2.5 million Afghan immigrants living in the country who have become a "burden on Pakistan's economy".

The resolution further claimed that the immigrants pose a risk to national security.

The MQM adopted the stance that Pakistan has "served" Afghan immigrants for over 30 years but its own people are neglected as they do not have access to adequate water and power supply, quality health care and education as well as employment opportunities.

"It is high time we prioritise our national interests," the resolution added.

The MQM-P's move comes as the Pakistani government has intensified Operation Raddul Fasaad ─ a military crackdown launched in response to the recent surge in terror attacks across the country ─ has raised concerns about racial profiling and discrimination against Pakhtuns.

Political leaders, including Jamaat-i-Islami emir Senator Sirajul Haq and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak, have slammed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for 'racial profiling' and 'harassment' of Pakhtuns by administrative and law enforcement officials.

However, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif have rejected the claims, saying that political parties are cashing in on the issue to "score points and gain public sympathy."

Pakistan "gave refuge to thousands of Afghans, but we will not keep housing terrorists," Asif told the National Assembly earlier this week.

The Human Rights Watch in a damning report released last month on the 'forced return' of Afghan refugees, called on the Pakistani government to avoid recreating conditions in 2017 that had coerced the return of refugees to Afghanistan last year.

It's a good :yes4: and believes me, I have some Afghani friends who are more interested in going to the US :usflag: rather than work in Pakistan:pakistan:. They always describe Pakistan as a terrorist hub as most of their Afghani ppl are caught/killed in :guns: terrorist activities. :sniper:

Good suggestion by MQM but census start next week. Census will help get better idea about population illegals in Pakistan.
This will face opposition from parties who are commingling Afghans with Pushtoons for politics.

.
I dont like MQM but completly agree on this one and hope others political parties support them with exception of guys like Achakzai

.
only those people should be counted in the census who possess CNICs in case of adults, and computerized birth-certificates and B-forms in case of children, and in case of a new-born child whose parents have not gotten around to getting a birth certificate yet, both parents should possess a valid CNIC.

it will solve the problem of any illegal immigrants/refugees to an extent.

Never thought i would agree with MQM but stranger things have happened in the past. MQM is right. Afghans need to be kicked out. They pose many threats and challenges to Pakistan.

Finally something sensible from MQM ... I hope other parties also do their part in deporting Afghans ( illegal ) , i have no hope from ANP,PMLN and PTI ...

Well, the census will be counting Afghan refugees as a separate entity so it should be ok. But I do agree with MQM that they should be sent back eventually. Census starts from 15th March so we dont have time to do it before that.

But if MQM thinks that kicking out Afghans will somehow increase their power hold in Khi, well, considering the migration of non-Afghan people from other parts of Pak to Khi, and the fact that many urdu speakers themselves dont support MQM anymore, that's a long shot.

Also, with other parties like Mustafa Kamal's PSP popping up this time, it will also dilute MQM's power.

They are most welcome to go anywhere in the world as long as they leave Pak. Just make sure they dont use Pakistani passport to do that. :)

They don't, on of my friend wanted to go US, after completing his school, we went to Afghanistan so he can apply as a refuge and he went US so easily, because when he used his pakistani passport his visa was rejected. :stop: :omghaha:
