hélicoptères d'attaque T129 ATAK

Morocco is currently at an advanced stage of negotiations with Turkey for the purchase of 22 T129 ATAK attack helicopters, produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and the Italian AgustaWestland, and equipped with American engines, reports Tactical Report, site specializing in defense contracts, which quotes sources familiar with the matter.

The deal, which includes missiles and avionics, is estimated to be worth $ 1.3 billion, the sources said.

The publication indicates that these negotiations between Rabat and Ankara had started in 2018, but experienced several interruptions, firstly due to the deterioration of relations between Rabat and Ankara, then, secondly, to the sanctions imposed on Turkey, a member of NATO, by the United States at the end of 2020. The administration of former President Donald Trump had in fact decided on an embargo on the sale of Turkish helicopters (equipped with American engines) in reaction to Ankara's intention to purchase Russian S-400 missiles.

These events have thus delayed the negotiations between Morocco and Turkey, but it seems that they are now well revived, and that Ankara is now ready to conclude this deal with Rabat,

Great purchase and these days Morocco wants to close the slight gap between them and Algeria keeping parity. There is still more purchases to be done by Morocco before the cap is entirely is closed but not by far it is minimal at this point

Turkish sources in the network and other newspapers are talking about the imminent signing of Morocco (or indeed its signature) on a Turkish helicopter deal for support and fire support called T-129 ATAK. Sources say that Morocco, which showed a previous interest in this helicopter, is leading the late-stage negotiations with the Turkish side to complete the deal to purchase T-129 ATAK helicopters. According to the news, a high-level military delegation from Morocco recently visited Ankara and met the authorities in the Turkish Aerospace Industries to discuss the details of the deal (22 helicopters).

- Turkish sources say that “ATAK T-129 helicopters produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries TUSAS are about to enter the Moroccan army’s cadres.” ATAK T-129 helicopters produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) are about to enter the Moroccan Army.

- Turkish sources also talk about "The Royal Moroccan Air Force is about to receive 22 ATAK T-129 attack helicopters from Turkey." The Royal Moroccan Air Force is about to receive 22 T-129 ATAK attack helicopters from Turkey.. Although the This was not officially announced, as was the deal with unmanned aircraft (number of 13 aircraft), which amounted to $70 million, including training and spare parts.

The deal will exceed $1 billion including weapons, training and spare parts..Its seems Morocco needs a medium attack helicopter because it has the heavy Apache and the light Gazelle helicopters..
