Plan designed to cover entire geographical stretch of country to unite into a national grid

An ambitious action plan for the country's energy sector has been drawn up by BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi based on a "rainbow vision".

Party sources said today that the action plan, to be implemented if NDA comes to power, covers seven energy fields -- gas, thermal, hydro, solar, wind, bio-mass and nuclear.

The plan is targeted at ensuring energy security for all and designed to cover the entire geographical stretch of the country to unite into a national grid.

While gas-based power plants are proposed in states like Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh, thermal power plants are planned in coal-producing states like Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

Similarly, hydro power plants are planned to be taken up in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and the states of the northeast.

Solar energy will be tapped in the vast stretch of Thar desert in Rajasthan and other states rich in solar energy like Gujarat.

Wind power potential in states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala will be harnessed while bio-mass power generation will be promoted in small towns across the country, the sources said.

Modi envisions an energy-sufficient India with its "rainbow" principle of energy sufficiency which has the potential to fundamentally transform the country, they said.

Modi is seeking to redefine the significance of the three colours in India's national flag green symbolising agriculture and revolution, white, the milk revolution and saffron energy, BJP sources said.

They claimed that Gujarat has a high per capita power consumption of 1,615.24 units, indicating a better index of human development in the state against the national per capita consumption of 884 units.

He challenged them in Gujrat and they surrendered to modi. If there's a will there's a way... Modi is not a weak leader like Manmohan & company.
