Modi’s Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train line is wasteful

I generally abhor generalized terms...but this is an Absolutely horse$hit article.

These same arguments can be applied to why Railways was built by GoI after independence.

The same money GoI used to extend Indian Railways should have been used just to build hospitals and schools, as we already had bullock carts.

Using this article's logic: The Railways only saved a few(dozen) hours vis-a-vis using bullock carts that most Indians used for transportation in 1947.

Or why build roads at all, because they only save a few hours vis-a-vis horse carts. The saved money can go to schools and hospitals and Indians can keep using horse carts for travel.

On the face of it, a bullet train project may look wasteful. However, one has to remember that most of it would be financed by Japan at a very favorable rate. Foreign investment means more economic activity which is good for the country. If it was built without such a soft loan from Japan, I'd have probably said the same thing but now it seems reasonable.

Retard.. one chart???
Who let's these guys write articles on things they have no clue about?
Scroll does. This online news outlet is a ridiculous joke & makes no secret of the fact that it is anti-BJP & "super secular"

Always read scroll when you wish to practise your facepalm style or when you wish to laugh.

& by the way the author has forgotten 2 things:-
1) The Japanese are giving us a massive loan for this project!
2)This genius is comparing the TOTAL COST required for the bullet train project to the YEARLY BUDGET ALLOCATION allotted (i.e amount given every year) for the other schemes!!

The GOI is only building ONE bullet train & thus only ONE project will be commissioned for now! This will not happen every year!
@kbd-raaf sir @Rain Man sir

This is scroll sir, it is by nature anti-Modi!!

Had Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal or even Lalu Yadav tried to implement such a project, they would have written articles full of praise for them

So basically the GOI will only spend 19,000 crore for this project if the below paras are true

This HSR project is for future might look odd now but going to be a useful asset in future with India getting technical knowhow too from japan which can be used in other similar future projects on longer routes. Money is always a higher factor in such project

Though union govt is expected to raise spendings on health and education sector where private sector players are looting middle class and poor people in guise of top class hospitals and education respectively
