The govt clearly thinks that there are loopholes in the court order which can be overcome with a constitutional amendment.

If and when the law is challenged in the SC we will know how strong is the govt position.

Hopefully RS will pass it today. Then it needs the states to pass. That should be done by Jan end. Then let us see what happens

Ranjeet bhai nothing can happen ,today is the last day in parliament for this govt term , even if by some miracle it passes in lok sabha , it cant get through rajya sabha . This in effect becomes a promise for the future , no party will oppose this but will not let it pass .

Would love to see if i am wrong mate , but i doubt it. the NDA has only 86 members in RS . They need 163.

It was always going to SC because it goes above the 50% threshold ruling (and in TN case with 69% for example as @kaykay pointed out....SC exemption given due to precedent in TN's particular case). But that stuff is going to be in the hearing stage for quite some time, and I doubt SC will order a stay on it being implemented after President has signed it (and someone brings case to SC for it to hear)....given there is already precedent of SC not staying it when it heard multiple cases of it for TN case earlier.

But I dunno why jbgt said rajya sabha wont pass and it was too late (last day) or something...I will let him explain that one.

Most likely, but there is enough time for the hearing of this case during election season. BJP knows what its doing here. It should have lead with this issue much earlier though, that was miscalculation on their part I feel....but maybe in the end at federal power level, it will end up being better for them.
