What is chian ? Iran Turkey, Middle east , all are our trading partners. Unless you become a manufacturing hub. situation wont change. same for India.

"Potential" is a feel good word that means nothing. And one that Pakistanis throw about with a religious zeal.

Pakistan's trade figures with each of its neighbours is abysmal. For all the "China investing in Pakistan" rhetoric, this year's FDI figures in Pakistan amount to a grand total of - $800 million!

Yes, Bangladesh scored more than that!

So do tell us when the "potential" changes to actual FDI figures in Pakistan, because apart from that, everything else is just noise.

It was not regional connectivity. It is about how much trade you can do. you are already connected with all those countries. just a new road or port will change anything if you dont manufacture anything. Same goes for India. We are making that connectivity wider so that our trade will increase. you may say chinese will be benefited and their trade will be increased. But in our case only our trade will be increased as others are not manufacturing anything.

India should not try to take credit of a diplomatic decision taken by Pakistan. It is evident to Pakistan now that SAARC has little value for our national interests. Trade with Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and India has little gain for Pakistan. Sri Lanka is good trading partner and we don't need SAARC platform for trading with them. We also don't need SAARC for trading with Afghanistan. Those roads being built are thousands of miles from Pakistan and we have no use for them. Given the hostility India has shown to Pakistan by using Afghan soil against us, we are not giving any access to Afghanistan via direct road route. Use Karachi port or Chahbahar, we don't care. History tells us we have connections with India and Bangladesh but one doesn't live in history. You live for your future and it ain't with these countries. It is with Afghanistan, Iran, China, Turkey and Central Asia. So sorry India don't wait for us. Go ahead and do what you want to do. We won't be there and it is our choice not some diplomacy of yours. We made the choice that there is nothing regional for us in Bhutan or Bangladesh or Myanmar or Thailand for us. How I wish your post was true!
Because that would have entailed Pakistan gracefully leaving SAARC citing the same reasons.

Yet instead what Pakistan chose to do was stay in SAARC and block every proposal that every other SAARC member wanted. And since SAARC works only on consensus, Pakistan stopped the entire region from integrating into one market as well. Pakistan wanted the region not to integrate. It was working to actively sabotage SAARC.

That means that Pakistan wanted to sabotage SAARC initiatives and not just leave it. And this is where the GoI came into its element. It made other multilateral groupings while keeping Pakistan out and passing those very agreements that Pakistan blocked.

This way, we (the rest of South Asia) are keeping Pakistan away.
