Taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to task and holding him responsible for creating a war “hysteria” and “masterminding” mass evacuation of residents of 1,000 Punjab border villages, former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh said Modi’s game plan was to showcase him as a “Saviour of Hindutava” to secure his party’s victory in the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Meanwhile, Amarinder exhorted people of border areas to not leave their homes and resist the pressure being exerted by the state government under the BJP-led Central government. “Moving poor people from their homes without a valid reason and without proper rehabilitation camps is just a cruel exercise created out of political ambitions. The Indian and Pakistani soldiers are still positioned in their barracks. They have not moved to the front or their respective battle positions. Then why poor farmers who are expecting a bumper paddy crop are being pushed to a distance of 10 km from the borders and are forced to leave their homes and belongings?” he questioned. He described the evacuation orders as unprecedented. “Intriguingly, the Defence Ministry has not issued any directions for evacuation of Punjab border villages’ residents. Instead, the orders have come from the Home Ministry headed by Rajnath Singh,” he said.

Whole purpose of this “surgical strike” exercise was for domestic consumption. The response internationally was quite telling: those that responded simply shrugged their shoulders, while many others didn’t even bother to respond at all. When army is not deployed on indian-Pak border in punjab then why the villages up to 10 kms have been evacuated at a time when paddy crop is ready to be harvested, its going to be resented by the public

On the other hand, shops opened, children played cricket and PA took international media to the places where India conducted "sir-ji-kal" strikes.

I think our Pakistani nation has become battle hardened. We have been fighting direct and indirect wars since 1981. We have survived in extreme environments. We have seen suicide bombs, raids on schools, courts, masjids, markets, airbases, airports, cricket teams etc. These incidents were more horrific than a typical war. We have lost politicians, ministers, etc etc in this war on terror. And then we have defeated the enemy as one nation.

It is very hard now to scare Pakistanis. I am sure if India attacks with full might, even then the business will be conducted as usual in Pakistan. People will just troll Indians on social media with jokes.

A nation is not defeated until it is not scared. A battle hardened nation knows when to remain cool when Army is incharge, and when to fight and defeat intruders when the need arises. Our nation has everything that a small army possesses. They have ammunition and they know how to use it. It is very very difficult to defeat Pakistan in an extended conflict unless someone uses hydrogen bombs to destroy major population centers and nuclear bombs to destroy small cities and towns across the country in the first strike.
