Thank god we are buying submarine rescue vessel, logistic support, ocean going tug vessel, oil tanker and floating dry dock first before buying new submarine and frigate. After Russia, the Indonesian submarine incident is certainly a lesson for us. Al-hamdulillah our officers planning the modernization carefully. Also i hope Turkey will complete the development of naval Hurjet before we look for LPD/LHD.
Nice. I thought the 6 frigate project stalled, good to see it in progress
The dock has no changes I don’t know when they plan to build or is it backlogged for a couple years
Man they’ll end up with Chinese design.
From the tenders it looks like they will build two OPVs first while building MRO facility for Chinese sensors (for Type 56 and Durjoy class) in CDDL. They are probably working to install new crane too. Your speculation could be right as we are seeing that they are building facilities to support their Chinese warships. But at the same time we are seeing that BN's evaluating western options too (SSM, SAM). The latter has more chance i believe.
The current dock will see no change except the crane probably, new dock will be built. I think we might see more delay in the frigate program. Cause lots of things like design house, MRO facility, new dock, logistic support, ocean going tug vessel, oil tanker needs to be built/constructed. BN might be trying to reduce cost if it's plan to develop torpedo, naval gun locally. So after all these development we might see our new frigate.
Not sure on the specifications though. I also hope there is VLS.
VLS is confirmed.
I see LPDs and LCTs mentioned. LHDs are much larger right? Helicopter carriers?
Yes. It could be LPD or LHD.
What use will a helicopter carrier serve in BN?
More deterrence, more effective amphibious assault on distant enemy beach with more troops and firepower. Listen to this.
