Mitsubishi ATD-X ShinShin: To Fly This Year !

OK I made a mistake..
I heard Japan jet engine and radar is modified from US based engine and radar..
So it should be considered as US tech knowledge...
Seems I am wrong..

And I very much respect your willingness to admit said mistake. All too many people here on PDF would continue arguing to the death, despite contrary evidence. So I have to extend my thanks to you for this. Also, the premise of your original post wasn't too wrong. Japan does build both military engines and radars, it's just that the ones they have in service at the moment aren't useful enough for the ATD-X system. But I have confidence that Japanese engineers know this and are developing better performing radars and engines for the production 5th gen fighter, whether it's the ATD-X or not.

Japan likes to build its own systems, even if they are based off of foreign blueprints. They, like Israel, acquire a system and then heavily modify it to suit their own needs. Looking at the F-2, an f-16, we can see this as it has been enlarged. Because Japan likes to build its own systems, it has acquired the expertise and machinery to build indigenous systems too.

This is similar in practice to China's acquiring of Russian weapons, which they then produce and modify themselves, ultimately leading to China's ability to make the J-15 and its derivatives on its own.

You know Asia guys is not willing to admit mistake...
Anyway in military and engineering field, right is right and wrong is wrong. No matter you admit or not.

Also Japan is trying to maintain the capacity of developing advanced fighter.
Yet it is not a easy job. Japan can do something good in certain components.
But not easy to develop the new fighter that meet latest standard..

Glad to know that our American friends have confidence in our abilities !

;)

Well I hope you guys aren't downgrading the gear you buy from us when you decide it's time for a modification... so I'd at least consider Japan to be able to improve on some of our designs. However, considering my more in-depth knowledge of military systems compared to many others here on PDF, I don't need confidence to make such claims about Japan's abilities... I know these claims to be true. For all it's problems (demographic, political, economic), Japan still does high-tech electronics better then almost anyone else.

And if no one wants to take my word at face value, they can ask Hiroshi Ishiguro what he thinks:

But which one's the robot :woot:

The Americans were at the receiving end of the Japanese Zeros for most of the War so its not surprising !

Though I think @SvenSvensonov hates me hence why he never replies !

I think it may have something to do with the fact that he knows that we Pakistanis think that Danes are better than the Swedes ! :bunny:

I don't hate you, or have you on my extensive ignore list (it's big), but if you are quoting or tagging me I haven't received any alerts... I usually read, but don't always respond to any I receive. There are certain people I don't seem to get any alters for, such as my fellow American AMDR, PDF has been strange in that way.

As for Pakistan versus Sweden

Cold it is, "July temperatures in Sweden average 13 to 17°C. February is usually Sweden's coldest month, with temperatures from - 22 to -3°C. In northern Sweden, winter temperatures often drop to -30°C, sometimes even lower. Snow covers the ground in southern Sweden from December to April, and in northern Sweden the first snowfall is often already in October. Most of the country is icebound in winter, but special icebreaking boats keep the major ports open."

Dude I'm someone who feels more cold than anyone amongst my friends or family; you can imagine that right now its 9°C in my city and I sleep under two warm quilts at night ! :ashamed:

I'd probably freeze to death in Sweden ! :fie:

In fact I remember when I visited Michigan in May; the people over there were jogging in their shorts while I was wearing a jumper with a warm thermal underneath and double socks on my feet !

I'm the opposite. Anything above 75 degrees F, and I'm looking to go back inside. Snow, cold... that's were I'm at home. If I'm not mistaken... @Nihonjin1051 and I share an affinity for the snow?

Can't honestly say Pakistan has been on my list of nations to visit, but if I find myself there i'll need to take a trip to the Malam Jabba ski resort

Oh!!! And sorry @Nihonjin1051 - we've derailed this thread... it seems to happen a lot. I blame Armstrong!!!

Provided, Japan is in an enviable and advantageous position in having an integrated defense industry with that of the United States. Japan is actually going to take a global participatory role in the F-35 Global Supply Chain. The F-3 Program will be used to project Japanese Power in the East Asian Region as well as in the Pacific and Beyond. That is the real purpose , my Friend.
So you are telling me you cannot use F-35 to project power? What does that mean? F-35 is shit? You are really hurting our American friend feeling here. LOL

.
Wrong, when I was still too young to have an erection and all the Chinese engineers were still out in the farm plowing the rice field, Japan had already developed an indigenous AESA radar for its F-2.

what were Vietnamese engineers doing? sewing fishnet?:dance3:

yeah they let Japan in on F-35 so they will not start their own thing to compete with the F-35, the ATD-X will be very very limited production for Japan only. US will not allow Japan to export it and compete with X-35, there is no way US let Japan compete in its market.

If there is no market for F-3, then it will end up like the F-2 program, an over expensive toy with limit capability. This is why I kept telling our Nihon friend that this program is about dick-measuring stick than real strategic depth. I also don't see our American friend too happy seeing another 5th gen to take their market share away. They already invest a lot in F-35 and the last thing they want is to have another buyer ditching their product.
