Mission of Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman Self Reliance and indigenization of Pakistan Air force

ok, so when will this ethos be expanded into a more desirable medium weight aircraft?
note te tfx is not medium weight the whole point of a stealth fighter is hold hold weapons internally the tfx having 4 internal bays suitable for aim-120 is not good enough. in regards to even a good medium weight fighter pakistan wont have none in the near or the future as there are none (yes that includes the j20 being a no no for export)

thankfully were having mear discussion, not a meeting on the direction of the air force.
The TFX's parameters aren't clear at the moment. Remember, the TFX will be designed for Turkish requirements, and the TuAF already has a stealth strike fighter in the F-35 Lightning II. The TFX is being sought to replace the TuAF's F-16s, which are medium-weight jets. It also appears that the PAF is looking at the TFX to replace the F-16s.

In my opinion, the PAC AvDI project will aim for an original design that is smaller than anything currently shown around the world. It'd be the long-term successor of the JF-17. It wouldn't be surprising if they recycle the underlying concept (e.g. single-engine 90~100 kN turbofan), but with heavy composite usage, sensor fusion and perhaps even unmanned versions (in line with 5+/6th-gen concepts).

. .
Thanks for posting this.

1) we will likely be getting more f16s
i think you should rephrase this, "PAF is trying at best to get new f-16 but in current geo political scenario its highly unlikely"
we need a change in leadership to expect any change in relationship. whether that change be in USA or pakistan

sorry for the delay.
but that all good and dandy an all but doesn't pakistan have a need to retire ~180 mirage lll/v?
the tfx to replace the f16 is a good idea granted as the time lines for retiring the f16 is around the time line for induction for the f16. but i did not mention a replacement for the f16. just to make it clear tfx to replace pakistani f16's? yes!

but im looking more near term with the mirage lll/v replacement. and i feel the j31 can step in here

pac own pet project to replace the jf-17 in the long term is a good idea as developing fighter jets takes a very long time. and by the time its ready more advance tech would be ready.

end of the day im just thinking on whats gonna be replacing this................

and no its not the jf-17 as i feel that's more of an intern which in my opinion is to replace the j7's.

There are no 180 mirages

6 sqn averaging around 14 Ac so 6x14 plus another 8-9 in ccs

Mirages plus pg may be close to 180

So if paf orders increase from current 150 to 250ish jf then it will replace all mirages plus f7pg ..

i thought theres approx 190 j7's total and a combined total of about 190 mirage lll/v?
