This corps is not a defensive corps which in Indian Army is called pivot corps or holding corps.
This Mountain corps is a Strike corps. It is not meant for defending. Its an offensive corps. The objective for MSC is to take Tibet in case of a war with China.
Sorry if my hurried post has some mis info . I completely understand what a Strike and a defensive corps means, bro.
I was more like trying to talk about a hypothetical scenario where BD's own defense might be at stake . I understand that India is developing a offensive capability completely having another target at mind. Where if war breaks out you will try to take the war at enemy land.
But war is much like a gamble or a game of chess, isn't it? In case of an war,no guarantee that China won't attack Shiliguri corridor. What would be the IA response if they succeed to capture it ? This MSC won't be the only strike corp of IA,there is few more. What if IA try to use one of these other SC to get through a supposedly weaker defense?
What would you do in that scenario if you are an IA General? (occupied chickens neck)
That's why I am talking of another Indian offensive in response of a Chinese one, and I am reasonably worried that we might be the target of that one.
I am editing my previous post, to clarify my points. Minuse the misunderstanding.
