It's highly unlikely. Even Khaleda Zia ( a kid in politics ) wouldn't do such thing as it would be a work of imbecile. If you need to cut army budget and make it look natural, you can't do it unplanned. I also think she just wanted to say , not to cross the budget limit, as @Homo Sapiens already stated (#43) . Or simply she wanted to advise as guardian ( you know she is always very good to act as guardian , remember quota movement ? She became emotional when students demanded to abolish it on street? ) , so I still believe that it was just a statemey for the sake of such guardianship ! But we have to wait to know the reality as we have no idea actually what is happening. We only can hope for the best .




It's simply because defence force only should be reporting directly to president or prime minister. You see DGFI directly report to prime minister only . That's the reason it make sense that 21 August grenade attack on Hasina was not any separate action ,but it was state sponsored , since former DGFI chief was got death penalty . But the truth is , he was just obeying order .

If you don't obey the govt , you will lose your job , if you obey order ,you will be hanged .

Surely this is not good , if such thing continues , then military will take necessary step to save govt employees.

So maybe that's the reason their penalty is in hold ,not sure though,it's just my assumption.

However I believe that armed forces authority don't want to report to numpty ministers when the case is defence . So defence minister is also prime minister.

Every country has a separate defense ministry headed by a Defense Minister. Only Bd is the exception. Could it not be because of Indian pressure since 1972?

It could be ,not sure. Interestingly after even 75 ,no patriotic govt bothered to change this system. Neither Ershad who made Islam state religion,nor marde momin BNP Jamat bothered to change this system. It looks our political parties ( including marde momin party ) are so in love with India that they even can't think of changing the system.

Ps : I propose the defence ministry post should be technocrate and a retired general will be appointed in this post . As generals are much more capable of holding this post than any PM.
