Mi-26 helicopter lifts bulldozers for road construction in Uttarakhand

Its like comparing C 5 Galaxy Vs C 130 J ... C5 is bigger but C 130 is tactical and Very mobile :yay:

Not quiet

C130 => Mi 17 - medium class, tactical roles, can transport smaller vehicles
A400 => Ch 47 - heavy lift class, but designed mainly for tactical roles
C17 =Y Mi 26 - heavy lift class, with high payload and a big cargohold to carry outsized cargo, to longer distances

Nope, the Mi 26 just like the C17 have different roles, beside the heavy lift roles, like troop transport, paradrops, long range MEDIVAC..., which the AN 124 or the C5 don't have. So when you compare the capabilities or roles, the Mi 26 is for helicopters, what the C 17 is for transport aircrafts.

I see. I thought you mean the payload.

These choppers are not expensive but expensive to maintain & spare parts issues are during collapse of S.U. but after Russian emerging this issue is already sorted out. If Russia restart this project with upgraded features then demand already grow because every country can't afford Chinook. MI-26's main hurdle in exports is their hefty maintainence & fuel cost, not pilot friendly etc. which I want to sorted out.

Mi-26 is still produced for Russian air force on yearly basis , the version AFAIK offered to India is Mi-26T2 which should soon enter domestic air force.

Mi-26T2-Improved version of the Mi-26T equipped with BREO-26 airborne electronic system, allowing it to fly any time, day or night, under good and bad weather conditions.
