Message for Pakistanis from Canada

. .
I feel his pain. At least there is something here members of ALL walks of life PTI/PPP/PML/MQM supporters can agree the VIP culture needs to be destroyed.

If our leaders live and die like the rest of my countrymen, perhaps they'd do something more compelling to change the plight of those whom they should serve.

A successful leadership doesn't live the high life off the backs of his subjects. Successful leaders and governments live to serve. They are the ones who should serve.
I feel his sentiments although he was being overly emotional. Problem is when you are looking inside the box from outside you see it better than if you were inside the box, People in the Box (Pakistan) are not too bothered by it and they (vast majority) think these elite are entitled to these luxuries, only the small minority of well educated see it otherwise.

This VIP culture goes from bottom up, we teach our children to obey their father no matter how wrong he is and never talk back to your elders (VIPs) no matter what. We teach our children we are better than others when we go for groceries and ask a 80 year old shop keepers to carry our weight to the car, we teach our children we are entitled to it because we have a car. just start observing everything around you for one day and you will see that problems are not only the elites.

I wish he had told stories about the public who travels in his cab also, the ones who talks to him with respect, thank him for picking him up and then thank him again after they get off the cab like he is doing them a favor (which in fact he is)

You posted gold here friend. We Pakistanis are FIRST and FOREMOST to blame. Everything you see in terms of corruption at higher levels, it all takes it's roots in our homes and society.

Sir the place where you live right now is actually a non-muslim country but they follow the teaching of Islam & they might consider Prophet Mohammad & Hazrat Umar their role model to rule the state. We belong to a Muslim country but we & especially our leaders are miles away from the teaching of our religion .
I've always said, that the Brits I meet in my day to day life, Christians or atheist or whatever...

In their etiquette, in their manners, in their morals and their insistence on all things fair and equal, makes them, a thousand times better Muslims than us.

People who behave like they do, have God on their side. Here we even have PM and party leaders taking the London underground to travel, just like the rest of us do, sometimes even biking it across London. Albeit, the security situation here is beyond perfect, but there is no protocol, there is no lavish expenses.

^There is our PM, sitting on an ordinary seat.

In our Islam, we have been taught this sort of equality. When I pray at my mosque, I could pray alongside millionaires and labourers and never know the difference. I would stand shoulder to shoulder with them.

Here, even our PM is on the same mode of transport, where I often see delinquent youth and labourers travel.

^Ed Miliband, Labour leader, opposition, could be future PM one day.

Their money and their lavish lifestyles don't set them apart from us, some basic values and morals they've adopted is what makes them superior nations.

We will rise, I don't know when but we will, mark my words we will rise, and it will be in the Pakistan we are in. The only question is when, and whether we will do so before we suffer. My guess is yes.

Pakistanis are not the type of people who learn things the easy way, they prefer the hard way, they prefer getting screwed over before learning not to do it again.

The VIP or Lal Bathi culture is there in our society for a long time...... They have been enjoying it for decades and are used to it..... But how many of us (us means older generations) stood against it? Very few..... How many supported this few guys??? again very few.... .But with social media being active, camera (mobile) in every nook and corner of the country, and number of 24/7 news channels and their struggle to get braking stories or material for their talk shows, things are changing fast.... awareness is increasing day by day.... People are more educated and know their rights...... It will change my friend, sooner or later......

You have spoken about Brits in your previous post, Look at the irony, the same guys ruled both of us..... But how did we got into this VIP culture?????

LOLL sorry couldn't control...

This is some sort of mental problem with this nation...The great blame game has become the ultimate slogan for my nation half side of the country believes it's a fail state n it cannot be taken out of the mess unless their fav political inspirational party aren't leading..

People who believes in real change doesn't get into such arguments..Folks don't understand nor realise wht happened with pakistan in last 15 years and how much damage we have to suffer

Democracy is the new start for pakistan it will only get better from here..Greater goals require alot of hard work n patients ..

Only hopes do not deliver, there has to be some action associated with it.

Problem in Pakistan is not only educational but also cultural. You think majority of people in UAE are not educated? They still have medieval culture though, despite grooming through international elite schools.

Well said.

And those educated abroad like IK are labelled mullahs and talibans anyway by the educated media, so why do you need education in the first place? Kuggu Nawaz Sharif is already Ameerul Momineen even if he never passed Bachelors Degree.
.
Imran may be schooled in UK but he dumped all that in the channel before getting to the mainland. So did Bilawal or his mom BB.

these elitists go to UK, get big degrees

But they forget all that the moment they land in Karachi or Lahore.

Then they are the same Ullu as every other politician and in many cases much worse.

.
Its not just about Islam...its more to do with ehsas ...which comes in if you are human and can feel your neighbour's pain ...hence love for thy neighbour is in every religion....to keep one within the limits of humanity...

Couldn't have said it any better man. Even, one word can give pain to someone if we are not sensitive enough to others feelings.
