The A350 had one of its first demonstration flights with passengers. Most of them were journalists and they are excited about our new airplane. Many say they love the space they have as well as the brandnew interior lighting system, which changes constantly. When it enters the market this year it will be the most advanced airplane in the sky. But wtch for yourself: (P.s.: please note that this is a test plane and so it is full of sensors and equipment you normally don´t find in an airplane.)

You may see that the board entertainment screens are much bigger than in any other airplane.

Some of the sensors. They check the air conditioning

The joy of flying in a test plane :D

The sensors also meassure in the business class

The two special designed RR-XWB engines are the most efficient and silent engines on any airplane right now:

Qatar Airways is our launch customer and ordered 80 machines of this type. They will go into service at end of 2014 and so far evrything goes fine. The current model, which will enter as first version of the A350 family has room for 314 passengers. A smaller and a bigger version will follow later.

We already have over 740 orders and chances are high that some of you will fly in one in the next years. :D

Boring. How does it compare to Dreamliner 787??

It wins in evry single category.

It has more place for passengers
A350 can have in its standard configuration 315 passengers while the 787 has only room for 296 passengers

The A350 is bigger 66,89 meters compared to Boeings 62,8 meters

The A350 has a greater wingspan 64,8 meters compared to Boeings 60,9 meters

The A350 can lift off with a much higher take off weight of 268 tons while the Boeing has only 251 tons

The maximum landing weight of the A350 is 205 tons while Boeing can land with max 193 tons. This means the Boeing must dump much more fuel in an emergency to be able to land, which costs time...

The range of the A350 is slightly longer than that of the Boeing 787. The A350 has a range of 15.300 km and the 787 has 15.200 Km so its mostly identical in this aspect

A huge difference can be seen at the max thrust the engines can develop. Our A350 can generate 431 kN thrust for each engine while the 787 is a weakling in this regard and can generate only 340 kN max Thrust for each of her engine.

You see that our product wins in almost evry single aspect. And we use high advanced materials and technologies and don´t go into experimental technologies like Boeing with its burning batteries and myriads of failures of their "Screamliner". ;)

Oooh nice. :woot:

I think my local Airline in Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific) has already ordered around 50 of these to start with. The Mainland will probably order more later.

The Dreamliner looks better proportioned than the Airbus. All Boeing products for that matter, look better than any Airbus products, past, present, or future. Anyhow, it would be good to see Indian carriers operating this aircraft type in the coming years.

Looks do not matter as much as the costs per passenger mile. The bottom line counts for airlines.

Nice .... Do you work at Airbus?

Looks do not matter as much as the costs per passenger mile. The bottom line counts for airlines.

Absolutely. However, as an aesthete, it's the first thing I'm internally programmed to look at. :)

Civilian plane technology has moved back after concord , i wonder when will the break the shackles to transonic flights ?

The A350 beats the 787 there too. Fuel cost per seat and per nautical mile is 10,29 cent and the 787 has 11,68 cent.

Because the much more powerful engines the A350 can take off at much shorter take off field length of 8000 feet, while the 787 needs 10.300 feet.

Beside this the 350 offers in its standard configuration much gimmicks the 787 is unable to give you:

Cd-Player, Moveable chairs, Galley, iPod connection, hot water, office system, reading lights, sound system, soundproof cabin, state rooms and window darkeners.

We are working on it. The problem is the sonic boom

Not just fuel cost Sir. Total cost per passenger mile has many components to it, fuel is only one of them.

So the 787 has no reading lights and it does not have a sound proof cabin?

What was that saying about the eye of the beholder? :D

Problem is efficient jet engine, the aircraft can go supersonic at 40,000 feet after leaving civilian area's , just like concord did

Not in its standard configuation. You must order this and pay for it at Boeing. At Airbus its a standard and service.

I don´t know the total cost per passenger of the 787 so i don´t want compare something that i dont know.

well

@gambit does say that he is the resident plane 'expert' on this forum. Lets see what he has to say in A350 vs Boeing 787. Is A350 superior to Dreamliner 787? @Oldman1 @boomslang
