MEERUT: A group of Sikhs who manage 35 gurdwaras in Meerut presented a memorandum to DIG Satyanarayan in Meerut on Monday, condemning Saturday's violence in Saharanpur, which left three dead and over 15 injured. The Sikhs sought that such incidents do not happen again.

In a five-point memorandum, the group said a committee must be constituted that would be well acquainted with religious disputes, and could intervene in time to prevent such friction from flaring into all-out violence.

The Sikhs of Meerut sought that the administration step in to offer security to the community, and also repair the damage to the gurdwara in Saharanpur. The memorandum sought that the relatives of the dead be provided a government job as compensation. Also, those who have lost their shops in the violence should be suitably compensated, the memorandum said.

The group has also warned that false cases should not be slapped on innocent Sikhs.

The DIG assured the Sikhs that the community would get full cooperation from the administration. No untoward incident of that nature would happen in Meerut, the DIG said.

Manjeet Singh Kochhar, vice-president of the Gurudwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha, told TOI, "We will do a thorough examination of the incident in Saharnapur to arrive at a conclusion about who stood to benefit from such clashes. We certainly do not want confrontation. But if we are instigated, we will be compelled to defend ourselves."

BJP leaders Satyaprakash Agarwal, MLA from Meerut Cantt and Harikant Ahluwalia, city mayor, also reached the spot to show solidarity with the Sikhs. "It was always Hindu-Muslim clashes... dragging Sikhs into the controversy is unfortunate. The SP government has lost the right to govern the state", Satyaprakash Agarwal said.

Amarjeet Singh Ahluwalia, secretary, Rashtriya Singh Sangat, Meerut Mahanagar, said, "The HC had passed the verdict in favour of the gurudwara in Saharanpur. Only after that verdict had the Sikh community begun building the boundary wall there. The Muslim community, by resorting to violence, tried to show that it was above the law. Sadly, the administration sided with the wrong-doers."

The solution .Right to bear arms. Muslims secretly stock up swords and guns in mosques. Now Hindus and sikhs should also keep weapons . Any idea among the rioters that they will be shot ,they will refrain from rioting. This secular sunni community only understand language that comes from the barrel of the gun.

.
If the SP goons are still allowed to rule U.P whole U.P people would need protection not just Sikhs of Meerut. NDA government should dismiss the SP goons party & Impose Presidents rule.

.
They should be ready for anything...

I heard Nihang Sikhs and Jats were on the way to UP. Did they reach or not? Even a sikh guy on abp saharanpur news video was saying that they came with 20,000 to attack us. 2000 of us are enough to take care of everyone of them. They openly declared a war.

Going to be interesting.

They should be ready for anything...
Sikh and Hindu women need to be armed with firearms. Lot of women have targeted like in muzzafarnagar but the media is ignoring it.

.
not much is going to happen in Meerut, Muzzafarnagar is still fresh in people's mind.

I am sorry to say but that is absolute Baloney, there might be a Few bad apples in the Muslim Community well in UP's case quite a few but don't generalize man, there are many Patriotic Muslims too

If the SP goons are still allowed to rule U.P whole U.P people would need protection not just Sikhs of Meerut. NDA government should dismiss the SP goons party & Impose Presidents rule.

When the time is right then we will strike to early & the SP goons will cry foul,to late & we would have lost UP to Sickulars.

Yeah right ... Pakistanis are most delusional among S.Asians. Just because 1 or 2 Indians are like that does mean 1.2 billions Indians are like that. You just need to look into your own nation where hundreds die every day due to terror strikes , tribal wars etc...
Where are your flags ?

Rashtriya Sikh Sangat is branch of Rashrtiya Swayamsevak Sangh. Those persons mentioned in the news are not true authentic representatives of sikh religion. They are just puppets might be used for defaming a certain religion.
