Hello

Since last year I have a strange problem and was wondering if there is any particular name of my condition and how to treat it

Basically several times a day I am saying something and speaking something else. So if for example I was playing chess few minutes ago and I was calling Knight as Pawn... Later Queen as knight even though in my brain I was thinking correctly...

If I want to say move your hand... I might be saying move your arm or leg

It may sound funny but I have been making these mistakes for several times a day and sometimes I am trying to think about something but I am unable to name it... So i will say oh that... Yellow colour... Long... Fruit... When i just want to say Banana...i dont have difficulty in calling very easy words like banana but do find dofficulty for naming so many things of weekly use if not daily...

I hope i made myself clear

Thank you

This is not medical issue.
I am sure there must be a cure or at least name of this issue

Somebody told me its similar to aphasia and/or disphasia... But couldn't figure out the true medical term for my case

Thank you

What is your age? If you don't mind disclosing.

If you want a Medical term for this I can give you that and you might get more sick in finding the cure.

There are many things which can cause slow memory response or 'mental fog'. Depends on age too.
I don't know you enough, but if I were you, I would first see how well I am sleeping and if I have sleep apnea. Especially, if you have past history of acid reflux. Sleep apena deprives your body of oxygen while sleeping and can cause mental tardiness/memory slowness or confusion after waking up for whole day.

There are huge number of possiblities from simple effect of age to blood sugar to dementia (if you are above say 60-65).

Then there are medicines that can do that too.

Start with you family doc. Get basic check-ups done. Also basic tests. If nothing comes up, go a bit higher. Ask for non-invasive tests like for sleep apnea. Its just a recording of your sleep to see if you are breathing normally while sleeping. If not that then consult a neuro-specialist.

high blood pressure/hyper tension
Do you take beta blockers? They can cause some interesting mental effects too because they are meant to slow your heart down a bit. Ask your doctor. Also, if you get persistant symptoms like coldness of hand or fingers or feet, specify this to them. May be your dose need to be adjusted, or may be they need more investigation around the output function of your heart.

Medical term is Alzheimer's disease. In this cell to cell connections in the brain are lost. But confirm it with a doctor for better understanding. My advise is take a break go relax and change this punch line on your profile."Marriage is the key to success!"

Thats a very definitive diagnosis. I will leave such thing to a doctor, as it involves quite a bit of investigation.

Agreed and there could be many reasons for this condition. The condition is not that bad it is normal for people who over concentrate and over think on stuff. Plus smoking is also one reason for such condition. Any medication can also be causing this condition. Drugs those have sedative in them. That is why I said contact doctor for it.

That was very helpful post

I do take beta blockers

Ramipril 10mg and Bisoprolol 2.5mg
I think I had sleep issues last year but these days I can sleep within 2 minutes if I want and usually do sleep for 8 hours or so.. sometimes less but I think my sleep is definitely better than last year

Some drugs cause such problems and some cause these problems after you quit them. consult a doctor for it or research the side effects of drugs you have been taking online. Some time leaving some drugs also cause such issues.

Oh that punch line is still written there? Lol

Well I don't think I am sufferinf from alzheimer's disease... My wife is a doctor and she would have caught such issue with me but upon brief discussion about the matter she wasn't sure whats wrong with me... Only that she knows I do forget the names and sometimes call wrong names unintentionally

@MSafir

Why did you delete the post? Being a Moderator I can read deleted posts too and I think your reply was probably closest to my problem?

Because I didn't want you to know and get worried about that. You are most probably fine, just thinking too much about this. once a while it happens. You can see a doc though.

Well I am trying to find a solution to the problem, how would I solve it if I do not know what it is

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anomic_aphasia

Word selection anomia... Or anomic asphasia... Is similar for one out of two problems may be... But how would my brain get get damaged without stroke or any other problem... May be I did not know and something has happened...

Smoking causes such effects.

Plus some medication also causes such effects.

Think about that you have this will contribute more to it.
I have never smoke in life but I have had friends who smoke so the smoke have gone in my by sitting besides them

The only two medicines I have taken regularly are as mentioned above and both of these medicines have other side effects.. not the ones I have...
