Massive Japanese Protest Against a New US Military Base in Okinawa Island

.
You are so smart to quote one example by ignore others? Maybe Libya will be a vibrant nation if US stays out of intervention.

I'm in no way saying the American 'Way' is Superior, as there are definitely many instances where the United States fails in strategic visage, namely the forced imposition of values on foreign countries. I think the issue of culture has to be taken seriously. What do i mean about this? Well, there are some cultures that are receptive to foreign concepts and ideologies , there are some cultures that are resistant. For example, let us compare South Korea vs Filipino vs Taiwanese vs Iraqi.

South Korea and Taiwan, two countries that are Confucian in nature, developed rather quickly after the conclusion of the 2nd World War as well as the Korean War. Why? Because both South Korea and Taiwan peoples have a culture of hard work, the confucian work ethic cannot be denied. The issue of order and collectivism is true in South Korea and Taiwan. This is why corruption issues were minor (not that it was non-existent), and that overall the two countries propelled themselves to economic success (the two original Asian Economic Tigers).

Now compare that with say the Philippines and Iraq. The Philippines also was a US colony, but why did the country not succeed as say South Korea and Taiwan? It is culture. The Philippines is not Confucian, does not have a strong confuian work ethic, and the Philippines has a very strong regionalistic culture where people from different parts of the islands think themselves superior to other islands, for example people from Manila / Luzon think themselves better as those from the 'provinsiya' in say the Visayas Islands, or the Mindanao Island. There are also so many languages in the Philippines, which is different to say Taiwan and South Korea, where the language spoken is Mandarin and Korean, respectively. Confucian Culture is receptive to change, that's what makes societies of Confucian order so very trans-formative, participative, and engaging. The issue of 'regionalism' is minor for Confucian-culture nations since we have a transcendentalist notion of the 'Collective Good' of the nation.

Now nations in the Middle East tend to also be very resistant to forced imposition. Iraqi political instability is the thesis of this.

You claim it Confucius influence rather than US impose political scene. So US is out of equation.

Are you another Gordon Chang?o_O

.
This isn't the fifties and South Korea is quite capable of defending herself these days. Then again the South Koreans do beg for he US to stay. As for Japan, i have mixed feelings.

When Korea reunifies, peacefully, I think that would be the time. Naturally, I will admit my bias. I would prefer a unified Korea be under the Seoul Government. The dynamic success of South Korea is a lesson. :)

.
why you think Asia will fall to China ???
and if US do so its ok , but if China do so its wrong ? why this ?

not many country are like Pakistan that's buddy-buddy with China, and US is there to counter balance the situation between Russia-China-US, if US left this equation, you are looking at war in Asian Pacific region.

kind of like Iraq Pre-Saddam Hussein era, you remove Saddam out of the equation, and you don't have a replacement, then you got civil war.

You claim it Confucius influence rather than US impose political scene. So US is out of equation.

Yes and No. The Confucian Culture enables Confucian-dominant countries to be receptive to new processes. Confucian dominant societies such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China have an innate strength also of focusing on collective good. The importance is placed on the 'nation', not on specific regions.

This is why said countries have been so very receptive to ideas from the west, per se the United States, Britain, Germany, France et al.

Why not? China the leader of Asia will lead the economic of Asia continent.
Asia prospered without China's contribution, especially the time when China foolishly followed communism.

So what make you think other Asian countries will abandon US when we have been the guarantor of freedom of trade in Asia ?

Out of all countries, the only asia country that every flourish without China rise is Japan. Korea, Taiwan and Hong King prosper becos of China grow.

If Asia prospered without China, why do they (besides China) still NEED about $8 trillion for infrastructure? It has been around 25 years since the end of the Cold War and USA suppose to build up those trillions of dollars worth of infrastructure in Asia by now. Freedom of trade is not enough my friend.

.
I don't know another country with a thick skull than the US. The local clearly don't welcome them but they shamelessly stay. LOL
