It's India's interests to have a cooperative relationship with the Eurasian states including Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, etc. Otherwise it will be completely isolated and contained in its own neighborhood. That is why joining the Quad and squarely joining the Western camp for India is literal suicide.
I see India soon re-aligning itself again to take a more neutral stance and moving towards more cooperation and integration with Eurasia.
That is their predicament. India is too far and too large of a population to be squarely in the western camp without being uncompetitive economically and isolated regionally. It needs cheap resources to develop economically. In a world where competition is increasing, India’s demographic window is closing (perhaps only 20 years left). Without growing prospects, the best entrepreneurs and brightest minds of India will pick up the pace to emigrate to seek those greener pastures, as they have been doing last few years.
