Main Accused in Bomb Planting During Advani's Yatra Held

One of the main accused, wanted in connection with planting of a pipe bomb allegedly targeting senior BJP leader L K Advani in Tamil Nadu in 2011, was today arrested in Kerala, police said.

A team of CB-CID of Tamil Nadu, who is probing the case, arrested Badusha near Punalur in Kollam district with the assistance of local police.

Police had announced a cash reward of Rs five lakh to those who furnish vital information leading to his arrest.

Badusha was also allegedly involved in several cases of possessing or hoarding explosives and had registered cases against him under Explosives Substances Act, Arms Act 1959, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, and IPC.

Police said he would be brought to Madurai for further investigation in the pipe bomb case.

His possible link to the murders of BJP leader Auditor Ramesh and Hindu Munnanni functionary Vellaiyappan would also be investigated, police said.

So far 19 persons, including "Police" Fakrudeen, had been arrested in connection with planting of the pipe bomb which was found under a bridge at Aalampatti about 30 km from Madurai, and defused hours before Advani's 'Jan Chetna Yatra' was to pass through the route on October 28, 2011
