What's new

Mahua Moitra celebrated Durga Puja at her home in Bangladesh.

First of all, Ashwini Vaishnav is Rajasthani, and Nitin Gadkari is Marathi, both are proud Indian and very abled in their profession. For me personally Nationality>Religion>Ethnicity, I cannot tolerate mediocrity in the name of my Bengali brotherhood. You don't get to teach in Stanford by adopting mediocrity.

Only merit have respect.

Do you think, Mr. Modi was elected because of his merit? or his credential as a Hindu messiah?

You Indian bengalis harp about merit only when someone point at your failures. In other cases, cha-wala and street shitters are fine to run the country.

Have you seen the economy of Gujarat pre and post Modi?

For Gujarat's economic growth you should thank to brilliant Man Mohan Singh and all those Gujarati Billionaires, not some fake Rishi stuntman go to cave before election.

So you're saying Manmohan Singh let his own state to rot and alleviated the status of Gujarat?

His economic liberalization and other policies helped to flourish Gujarat and other states who were smart enough to catch the opportunity, While West Bengal failed despite many geographic advantages. His state Punjab is not that bad economically, it is small and not a coastal state, so one can not expect it to become a trade hub like Gujarat. Your allegation only point to the fact that, Mr. Manmohan did not show any partiality to his native state. He allowed all the level playing field. Some succeeded more than others.

I have deep admiration for Manmohan Singh, without him India would have been an economic basket case like Pakistan. He also proved that Neheruvian economic model does not work, so kudos to him.

Coming back to the case, why do you think Gujarat/Maharashtra/Tamil Nadu economic model worked and West Bengal didn't, even though West Bengal had a better educated talent pool compared to many other states?

Or the industries packed their bags and left West Bengal at the dawn of Mamata's ministry? Be it Tata or Infosys or Wipro.

And why is that Mamata doesn't feel shame to come on national regional television, and tell educated graduates to sell tea, pakora, jhal moori by the road side?

There are many factors why West Bengal failed to proceed in a same speed like some other Western and Southern states. I will recommend you to read two widely respected books on this subject. 1. The agony of West Bengal by Ranjit Roy and 2. The Spoils of Partition by Joya Chatterji

West Bengal's decline has historic causes, Central govt.'s descriminatory policies and West Bengal's own vicious political culture to blame. I will highlight some-

1. Partition caused the disruption of economic activities in both East and West Bengal. Calcutta being the premier industrial and financial hub declined as it lost its source of raw materials and market of East Bengal.

2. After independence, Indian central govt. made a lot of policies which hurt economic prospects of West Bengal and hurt it's recovery from economic disruption brought by partition. Freight equalization policy and discriminatory policies to grant industrial licenses and other financial benefits hurt West Bengal and stimulated Western and Southern States.

3.Naxalism and Communism got fertile ground in West Bengal which sacred away investors and industrialists.

4. 34 years long Communist rule and politicization of economy badly hurt West Bengal's prospect as a hub of free market economy.

5. Babu culture among the elite and educated Bengalis of West Bengal. They are more content to get a govt. service job and settle down for low hanging fruits than taking risks and becoming intrepreneuers and industrialists. It has something to do with caste system among Hindu Bengalis where merchants and traders were not respected compared to professionals like Doctors or lawyers.

6. Mamata Bannerji's earlier short-sighted policy to force the Tata group out of Bengal when they tried to set up an Automobile factory. This high profile incident gave West Bengal a very bad reputation of not being a suitable place for business and industries among leading industrialists from India and abroad.

Unlike UP/Bihar/MP and Rajasthan, Bengal has everything to grow on par with western or southern states. Hell it was one of the richest province for centuries. The only region it stopped growing is because of communism sickness and politics!!

Communism is one of the factor, not whole factor. Kerala also Communist for a very long time, but it is one of the best state in India in economic and social development. Communists are good at social development whose benefits Kerala and to some extent West Bengal are getting.

What do you think Mahua Moitra should become PM of India or not?

Mahua Moitra, being a former Vice President of JPMorgan Chase and an investment expert would be an infinitely capable person to make India a 10 trillion Dollar economy than an uneducated, uncultured cha-wala Modi with zero knowledge about how a modern economy function.
Look at what she and her Govt done for West Bengal.. you'll get your answer!

Bangladesh's economy has been ruined by two half-educated and inexperienced women. Both were kitchen ladies with no experience in even filing a document. Yet, they have become the PM of the country.

How this Mahua of India can be the PM when there are hundreds of experienced people in that country with knowledge, education, association, and experience?

Why someone should propose her name as the future PM of India? Is it because she speaks ferociously in Parliament? I wonder if this can be any qualification?

But, these non-qualified MPs in South Asia have at least one qualification which is to speak forcefully without understanding what he/ she is talking about.

That was a bad example. Kerala while has very good social indicators, it is economically "backward" as most of it is based of massive debts. Its major source income is remittances from gulf states and tourism. It dosen't have industrial base or is software hub. All in all Even though it is a coastal state, it has relatively weak economic base. The best economically and socially sound state in India would probably be Maharashtra or Tamil Nadu.

Very well put. All she has done is shout in the parliament, without doing an iota of groundwork in her constituency.

Join us, Make Bengal Great again! Commies don't stand a chance here in the East.

I am just kidding, don't get triggered. We wish the best for the people of West Bengal.

When Bengal was great it contained Bangladesh, west Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, and some small parts of western Assam.

Now, geography, politics, communal harmony, and everything is fragmented.
