'Made in India' iPhones exports in India make history, 'cross $10 billion mark'

I have not dealt much with Apple. I sense some of the IT related organizations are like that. I still think the hardware/product groups are diverse (lots of Indians, Chinese in there).

Talking with my Egyptian friend who lives in Saratoga the high real estate costs are pushing all Muslim families out of the Bay Area because the women do not work.
Pushing everyone out, low wages, high rent and property prices and no job security makes it almost impossible to live in.

Why no job security ? isn't the tech sector booming inspite of recent layoffs ?

also true in biotech, science, healthcare and to some extent in high finance. Everywhere you go in the US, it's Indians and Chinese doing all the technical work.

The whites do the business end of stuff, there will be a couple of token blacks and a couple of Latinos, maybe a single Muslim and everything else Indians and Chinese.

Surprisingly not too many south east Asians.

There are plenty of Whites, Middle Easterners and Latinos doing technical work. Numbers are lower proportional to the share in society. There are a lot of Vietnamese. They tend to be concentrated on the West Coast

point 1. Not necessarily. Some of them are diversity hires but an equal number are really good at what they do and get a bad rap because people assume they are diversity hires until proven otherwise

Point 2. Not necessarily. many are not even hindu let alone brahmin. Most seem to be from middle classes and middle castes.

Point 3. As in everything, there is a continuum. I suspect it is a culture thing more than an IQ thing. Indians and Chinese are more likely to do what it takes to master boring and difficult technical subjects.

affirmative action is pretty big, particularly within the US tech space (they lean quite heavily into leftism and social justice, don't they ?

tam-brams.. the Iyers, Iyengars, ramaswamys, rangarajans, sunderajans et al of the world

these bastids just are smarter than most others, can't explain it.. but they just are (overwhelmingly so and waay more often than not) .. eugenics scene hai kuch, just generations going back time immemorial se selective breeding kare aa reh hai ye log.

Africans make up for stuff by excelling at physical sport, these guys slam dunk the smarts game.

I suspect as much. A lot of Indians put a really really high premium on their kids' education, parents will sacrifice a lot just to make sure the kids get schooled well.

"padho ge likho ge, banoge nawaab..
khelo ge koodo ge banoge kharaab" :D

@jamahir sb: But ISKCON is the only one assigned to provide mid-day meals in lots of schools.

I believe the right to provide mid day meal was won through a competitive bid. They won the bid because they were able to quote lower as much of their operations are funded by charity. They still have to provide the required nutrients in their meals.

No one prevents the kids from getting eggs or other animal protein elsewhere.

Regards

PS: I am not particularly fond of this organisation or any other religious body, but that is the factual posiiton to the best of my belief

The correct definition (rather than "made") should be either "screwed together from Chinese parts" or more accurately - "slapped together".

I have seen numerous reports on how QC in India is having a devil of a time picking between good and badly assembled ones.

Some said the rejection rate at QC was something like more than 50%.

That said - best wishes for Indians. They really need these jobs.

Nothing to boast about, it's simply survival.
Correct definition is - it takes more than Chaddi stitching skills to manufacure/assemble/screwdrive an iphone otherwise Kanglus would have been doing the same instead of India.

P. S. - Tu fir se aa gaya! Lost your job again?
