Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying says he is not in favor of offering cash-handouts in his upcoming policy address. Last week, Macau’s Chief Executive announced a record handout of 9000 patacas for each permanent resident during his policy address. When attending RTHK’s forum program “Voices from the Hall” last Friday, Leung was asked by a resident if he would follow in Macau’s footsteps of offering cash handouts. “I don’t advocate handing out cash,” replied Leung, stressing that public money would be better spent helping society’s less well-off. “If the government has the finances, I think our cash should go to the needy, including low-income families and disabled people, and to encourage Hong Kong’s social and economic development.”

MACAU DAILY TIMES - CY Leung shows no favor of cash-handout in HK

I'm thinking about how to use my MOP 9,000 (around US$ 1,470).

Leung is correct. Not everyone in HK need handout. Use it to build a reserve for rainy days.

Indeed, but I will be happier if I can have both (I got the HK$ 6,000 last time).
Not much, but $$ is still $$.

It took me HKD 4000 to get the last $6000 handout, still, a free trip to Hong Kong meh

How do you think about the chaos in Hong Kong.

Lol people are getting crazy and crazier everyday. Protest for government, protester against government, and protest regarding other protest.

I can't blame them all to the current government, but well, I would say the situation is more or less dead in water.

So there is no hope whatsoever then? Just as I thought.
On the other side Macau is being assimilated by the CCP day by day, I think it is time for me to move to Canada, stay there for 3 years and then become a peaceful lovely Canadian in stereotyped.
Brilliant plan.

My friend, Canada is not the same country you heard about decades ago. It's hard to make money in Canada and the income taxes and sales tax are high in virtually every province. House prices are very high in big cities and Toronto is a shit hole.

The future is east, but if you have to move, I do not suggest Canada unless you are rich or damn poor. Being middle class is the worse situation to be in Canada. Poor people have many benefits as they suck it out from the middle class.

I have been visiting that country yearly since I was born, I know their current situation~
And I wasn't being serious, but I would definitely consider that country as my retirement place to live.

Meh Canada is the same deal as England I don't know why people flock to Canada to begin with, but I sure as hell not going to be one of them

If you like semi socialist country, Sweden is a good choice, otherwise I would say Australia is my second best choice. Both NZ and AUS is a good retirement bet.

If I have to rank this is my country of preference

Australia->new Zealand -> Sweden -> USA -> UK->= Canada, you don't want me to rank the other country I have been in

Actually the reason I want to be there id because many of my relatives and friends are living there and in Washington State. Besides I love snow.
Sweden is another good choice, since their language is pretty awesome.
而他們是真正的社會主義國家.
