KARACHI: Karachiites continue to face pronlonged power outages during Sehri (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar as federal government blaming K-Electric for the worse power situation in the metropolis.

A Pakistani who works for a major IT company in Singapore has family members residing in North Nazimabad area of Karach
i. Owing to the hapless power outages across the city occurring since a couple of days, his house did not receive electricity since 24 hours. Hence, he decided to try his luck by mailing a complaint to the Prime Minister’s office. However, even that did not work as the mail did not get delivered. Apparently, you can’t even reach the Prime Minister of Pakistan electronically, for complaints!

The power outages were witnessed in the areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Karachi, Malir, Korangi, Baldia Town, Liaquatabad, Steel Town and many other localities.

Loadshedding continued to torment the masses during the holy month of Ramazan as they had to take their pre-dawn meal in the dark.

On the other hand, K-Electric has said that a fault took place in the system due to the heatwave in the city and the issue will be resolved within 14 to 16 hours.

While our teams are working non-stop to normalise areas, attacks on our offices are only delaying restoration.

The prime minister had ordered the power utilities to avoid power load shedding during Sehri, Iftari and Taraweeh prayers but the power bosses continue to carry out load-shedding across the country even the odd times of midnight.
