I'm not sure why you are banned off the South Asian section my friend. There are sections bans so another moderator might have banned you off the section.
I was not even warned once .:(:(. Can you tell when the ban will end or am I banned indefinitely??:sad:

I'll accept that as a valid argument for being purely looking after the welfare of childeren if the school did same to Jewish or some other powerful lobby's kids as well i.e. denying them something that their religion or traditions expects from them.

If only Muslims are being singled out for one pretext or the other, it is Islamophobia.

PS. Islam does not ask kids to fast. If some parents want to force it on their kids, they should be taken to task. And no, i am no religious authority, just an average Joe.
did you read the mail in OP? They are trying to say they consulted muslim experts and think the children are not obliged to fast. Read the whole thing before commenting.
I am no religious authority either, nor do I work for child support. I know from news they sometimes get involved if neighbours complain. Schools can report too. This has nothing to do with islam or south asians, more often its broken family (husband alcoholic, wife druggie etc)

Its gratifying to see most posters agree with what the school has done.

A random thought , Would the reaction been the same if an Indian School had enforced this to their students ?

Fasting begins at the age of 14-16 so it's a no Brainer for a primary school.

Everyone is gonna jump up and down and call India an evil Hindutva-vadi state trying to oppress Muslims .

It begins at the age of 12, the same age when saying regular prayers becomes compulsory. However, if a person is in no good health and cant endure day-long fasting, they are allowed not to fast.

There is no rocket science and even a newbie can tell the summary of the discussion.....

1) Hindutva modi and his attrocities - the entire discussion will be around it.....
2) Trolling
3) Negative ratings, Infractions, ,and ban....

Well why this is viewed differently????

Most of the posters from across the border believe that India is a place where muslims are treated badly and they do not have freedom to perform their rights....When you look at a news like you mentioned, with the above belief suddenly the discussion takes it to the direction i listed.....

Surprisingly there is a thread in PDF with a news of Govt stopping Midday meal scheme for schools during Ramzan....... Btw this includes primary school too...

I normally keep away from religious threads/topics, because I strongly believe Religion is a personal thing, and its boundaries are decided by the person himself....... Let us not take it further as it is off topic......

Sad to see the kind of colonial mentality some muslim in this thread have shown. How can a school ban fasting? And how r they going to enforce it, force feed kids? So much for secular liberal west . By ideology liberal secular west is intolerant to those who doesn't espouse its values & religious doctrines. The bigots in Europe r doing full display of their dirty & rotten psyche.

As for fasting , yes its not obligatory till one reaches the age of puberty but its for the parents to decide if they want to make their kids used to fasting from an early age.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

A young child should not be forced to fast until he has reached the age of adolescence, but he may be told to fast if he is able to do it, so that he may get used to it and it will be easier for him after he reaches puberty. The Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) – who are the best of this ummah – used to make their children fast when they were young.

What is the right age to get children used to fasting? - islamqa.info

The age at which parents should start teaching their children to fast is the age when they are able to fast, which varies according to the physical constitution of each child, but some scholars have defined it as the age of ten years.

Everyone is gonna jump up and down and call India an evil Hindutva-vadi state trying to oppress Muslims .
And yet you elected a man as Prime Minister who himself was responsible for burning thousands of Muslims.

Very good decision, fasting for children?
Thats stupid beyond any measure.....

Yeah thats the reason why millions want to live there. What an irony.

You guessed it right, they live in a secular, liberal and western democracy and not some stone age era religious sharia law ruled failed state. Thus, the state has the responsibility to protect the children from irrational nonsensical things like fasting.

You dont need to study medicine to comprehend why children need their nutrients more than adults. Its common sense backed up by scientific evidence.

What your ancient book says about it does not matter an inch.

Good move. But look at the title, the headline you see, LONDON SCHOOL BANS STUDENTS FROM FASTING,, no this is what fire up the debates and fights. What this London school have done is TOTALLY understandable and acceptable as per any Islamic law, but the title or the headline make it stand out like some any Islam thing and half of the people reading it will be ready to start a heated debate, only some sensible ones will read the full story and realize that there is nothing wrong is this. BS reporting.

What the school have done is NOTHING WRONG, it is just the head line, the new title that make it LOOK WRONG and hence the posters are writing and accepting this decision as they realize that this is nothing wrong in the first place. Had the same been done in India or Israel the my reaction would have been the same. Again, please note that it is the TITLE that is making this decision look like some oppression and then the posters accepting the decisions here look like some saints or open minded people. The fact is, there is nothing wrong with the decision in the first place, not by any Islamic law.
