Constructer of TCG Anadolu maliciously prefered Harriers against dump and dumper.

Türkiye should produce Harrier under UK license as Türkiye produced Atak helis under İtalian license!!!

It would take a loonng time, and at that point we'll have the TF-X/MMU ready for the serial production. Instead of that, we should plan a VTOL version of TF-X. Until that point, we can use helis on TCG Andadolu.

Turkey's economy cannot sustain the development of both TF-X and a VTOL version. VTOL technology is extremely complicated.

The best option for TCG Anadolu would be to buy or produce upgraded Harriers. This option is the only viable one, if Turkey is continuously denied the F-35B.

But we cannot sustain upgrading Harriers too. The most logical option we have is using her as a heli carrier like Japan, we don't have to have an aircraft carrier and there were no official statements about it too. If we can find planes to use on her, that's great but we can use her as a heli carrier until that point.

VTOL variant of TF-X will not happen that's for sure.

I doubt that any other country will develop a VTOL jet the next 20 years, so the only options right now are F-35B or old Harriers.

You should not be adamant on getting VTOL a/c for anadolu.

Trying to develop or produce VTOL jets for one small aircraft carrier is like buying a phone just because you have a phone charger left unused at home.

And you should think before you post! :hitwall::crazy:

Please try to find an example, where anywhere on earth any conventional aircraft has been developed into a VTOL fighter?

Simply forget it!
Look, I agree with everything you say, but you should go back and read your previous replies in Turkish section. You always thought that we can't develop anything. You are an author about Chinese aviation and I'm sure you saw every new development with Chinese aviation in years. You saw how they advanced over the years with all of these projects going on. Yet, you still think we can't do anything. It looks like to me that you have your personal feelings towards us involved in this.

All fixed wing aircrafts that fly from TCG Anadolu will be unmanned. No need for manned aircrafts.

No, I have to contradict. It is not that I assume, Turkey cannot develop anything and I'm well aware that most in this section think of me that way, but it must be realistically.

To think TAI can develop a true fifth generation fighter alone from scratch is in the league of the Raptor is impossible. So far TAI has only assembled components are systems for others but developed they have nothing comparable of a jet trainer, let alone a stealth fighter. Therefore my point is not to diminish the Turkish achievements, but I think they should be realistic ... and a VTOL capable fighter developed from a jet-trainer than not even has flown is plain naive and anything but realistic.

My fear in fact is that after years of announcing ever mote and more and more more capable systems you will end up like India, with lots of fancy models, chest bumping announcements and no-one will take you seriously.

But again, make what you want.

Please discuss the subject in this topic. It is known that Turkey has an ambitious target to construct an aircraft carrier but A VTOl/STOvL aircraft is like another universe of aerospace technologies so F-35B will be on agenda in gollowing yeara when we overcome the S-400/F-35 hump. Feel free to share your ideas in this thread and let TF-X thread to proceed in its natural direction based on official sources.

We are not going to overcome the f-35/s400 hump so no point dreaming

Agree with Baybars. Turkey's days of buying foreign fighters (especially from the US) is over. F-35 isn't the only issue to be overcome. US also needs to cease its support of FETO and PKK/YPG for relations to normalize, which requires a complete reversal of US Middle East policy. I just can't see that happening this decade. If at some point the US stops acting like a total ENEMY and starts acting like an ally, then we'll reconsider.

Is there a thread where is this is discussed in depth? How the fck did it get to this? Does this go back to Van Minut?

I don't know if it was discussed in depth in some other thread. This is just my personal opinion on the matter which you're more than welcome to disagree with.

I don't think Turkey needs a aircraft carrier, those are really expensive assets. But for the sake of discussion the only other carrier capable fighters in production other than the F-35 are.

Mig-29K/Mig-35
Rafale
SU-33

Chinese J-15/16 are not for export and they have a carrier capable stealth fighter program for either a shrunk J-20 or modified J-31 but that too wont be available for export anytime soon.

Being NATO compliant the Rafale would make sense. Or alternative is the TF-X gets a carrier capable variant but that would compromise its design so not recommended.

A attack helicopter carrier makes greater sense.

My own opinion is politics evolve and Turkey will continue with a limited amount of F-35s as this is the only way it could salvage its sunk investment and US can't afford delays or further cost overruns from switching to new vendors for some of the components. Because of COVID-19 alot of military budgets will shrink and F-35 orders will be cut so US needs all the orders it can get.
