LIFE In CHINA vs UK (2023), Which one has better standard of living?

That what makes life in China and Gulf countries even more stressful then it has to be. Entrepreneurship amongst foreigners could be a growth industry, and an asset for Chinese tech sector. Unemployed and high skilled individuals could found breakthrough companies if allowed to stay beyond a specific job position.
I agree, I mentioned many times that I don't support this anti foreigner policy adopted in recent years, hopefully it's just a temporary thing , Xi recently says China will only be more open in the future, so let's hope those polcies would change soon.

This guy from another video has a good point, in China as long as you have something to do, most part of your income can be saved yet you can still enjoy a high standard, comfortable life, comparing to the west where he is from, people just live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to make ends meet. If you want to have some savings in the bank for the future, China is a good place to do it.

Most of people I met in Shanghai were living paycheck to paycheck, with numerous people taken loans.

These videos are great to promote China to the world as it is very evident that it has to be promoted on a defence forum to bring more people there. But also put out content where it addresses some of the more concerning things that require to be worked on.

It likely won't change for a while. And it isn't adopted recently, it has been there for quite some time. Just like a lot of the Middle Eastern countries, if you as an expat lose your job it results in a cancelation of the residence work visa and one has to leave within a grace period.

LIFE In CHINA vs UK (2023), Which one has better standard of living?

In the video he also briefly talked about homelessness in US and China, saying he probably saw one of two homeless persons for all these years living in China, It matches my own experience here, I mentioned in some other threads that the last time I saw a homeless person in China was like around 5 years ago, but some morons here who didn't visit China for at least recent years insisted that homelessness is a common occurance in China.

Only if they are buying a house, housing price in Beijing and Shanghai is crazily high, if you already have a house, life will be very easy, high salary, very cheap cost of living.

In the past, there was a massive gap between the development and quality of life in the West vs the East. Now, many cities in the East (not just in China, but also the Middle East, SE Asia, East Asia, etc) are surpassing cities in the West in quality of life measures and infrastructure. Interesting times.

The future... could be India or a certain African, South American country...
I have strong faith in Veitnam's future fast growth and development, but zero faith in India's, so much social strifes , chaos and disparities, women's rights for work and education, caste system, widespread superstition are just a few, this country is not socially and culturally ready for economic take off.

Vietnam will definitely become a powerhouse in the next 20 years. I wouldn't be surprised if Vietnam will become stronger than any European country in 20 years.

"In Shanghai, there are no homeless people, In Tokyo,, homeless people are not so many, but there are some"

Cost of Living in China | Changsha Expenses

Changsha is the capital city of Hunan province, Mao's home province, it's about one of the low end 2nd tier cities in China.

I never heard any foreign expats either online or in person complain about being "oppressed" or lack of "freedom" living in China, on the contrary, many of them say they feel having more freedom being able to get around at any time at night without worrying about their personal safety.

@Meengla or @ghazi52 just wanted your opinion of the first 30 seconds of the video below of the outside of a residence in China. You guys apparently live in some of the highest property crime states in the US (but of course that is all relative).

(This is a video from the same guy in the OP)
Notice anything?

"This place made me feel, to be honest with you, better than I expected"

..really...yeesh..I think this should be throwing some serious red flags.

Have either of you seen security setups like this anywhere near where you live?

It's part of a Chinese habit, Chinese like to built walls and fences, that's why we have the Great Wall , and all Chinese schools and kingdergarten's have barbed wire on top of the school walls and fences, and you guys say they are all prison's or "concentration camps", that only shows how little US knows other countries and cultures. they just take for granted for everythiing, you don't have to listen to just this one guy's talking about safety in China, go and ask anyone whoever visited or lived in China how they feel about the safety issues in China.
