PESHAWAR: Lieutenant Hakeem Ullah was blessed with all good qualities of a human being. He is, in deed, one of the great heroes of Pakistan Army who sacrificed his life for a bright future of fellow countrymen. He not only enriched the chronicle of Pakistan Army but also proved to be a little twinkling star for the entire nation. The young blood will always get inspiration from his character and gallantry actions which were aimed at ensuring a secure and prosperous future for the coming generations. Lieutenant Hakeem Ullah, no doubt, is a beacon of light, courage, fortitude, dedication and patriotism. Lieutenant Hakeem Ullah was born on 12 February 1990 in Village Patto - Talash, District Dir (Lower). According to his father, Right from his childhood, Hakeem Ullah had a great desire for joining the armed forces and wanted to be known as Black Tiger. He was a shining student of his class and showed good results in academics. Hakeem Ullah passed his Matriculation and FSc examinations from Army Public Schools and Colleges System (APSACS) Gilgit and Peshawar respectively. He did Hifze Quraan in just 14 months from Soth-ul-Quraan Institute Sargodha in the year 2000. Aspiring to serve the nation by joining the Pakistan Army, he was selected for 120 Long Course and joined Pakistan Military Academy Kakul in 2007. After completing his training, he passed out in 2009. He joined the historically renowned unit of 42 FF. Serving with this unit, Lt Hakeem Ullah took active part in various operations conducted to defend the country and eliminate the anti-state elements. He accomplished the assigned missions with keen interest and ultimate devotion. An extremely daring and selfless officer, he would always be seen at the forefront of action. On 10 May 2010, Lieutenant Hakeem Ullah was leading a company size force, advancing on Mishti Mela Daburi axis in Orakzai agency. At about 1100 hours, the advance parties met stiff terrorists resistance in the shape of mortar, rockets and small arm fire. However, the troops, leading by Lt Hakeem Ullah continued their advance undeterred. At about 1200 hours, Lt Hakeem Ulllah observed terrorists movement, and keeping his wits about, chase the militants to the nearby hideouts. He immediately resorted to cordon and search operation in the area and started searching the compounds where he had observed terrorists movement. Leading from the front, the officer personally searched suspected compound in the surroundings and tried to secure the area. As Lt Hakeem Ullah along with his force was searching the hideout, they were fired upon from different directions. This led to a fierce gun battle. Lt Hakeem Ullah, at this very moment, stood firm like a tiger and inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists. He engaged the militants with a high degree of moral and professional expertise. Meanwhile Lt Hakeem Ullah also made efforts to evacuate the casualties and encouraged the soldiers to fight till the last drop of their blood. He fought with commendable courage and absolute resolve and passed on message to headquarters for artillery firing. Lieutenant Hakeem Ullah then asked one of the soldiers to provide him the covering fire and he himself dashed to evacuate the injured. During cross fire, he received many bullets but never lost his temperament and continued to engage miscreants locations and started moving close to the enemy when he received a burst on the chest and thus joined the ranks of Shuhada. Lieutenant Hakeem Ullah was a courageous, honest, loyal, hardworking and obedient officer. He had a natural respect for everybody. He respected his parents from the core of his heart. He was a charismatic personality and had cordial relations with friends and colleagues. Lt Hakeem Ullah was very caring and often used to ask his juniors about their problems. His father, Major Munnawar Shah said, Hakeem Ullah was a pious, brave and obedient officer. He was a man of principle and always preferred his duty above everything. He loved his brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and their children very much. He used to call me regularly and on May 10, two hours prior to his shahadat, he sent me a mobile message. Hakeem Ullah fought bravely till the last drop of his blood and proved that he was really a Black Tiger. He lead from the front and encouraged the soldiers to be determined and steadfast. Lieutenant Hakeem Ullah sacrificed his life for a bright and secure future of Pakistan. He has left a message for his countrymen to rise against the cancer of militancy and eliminate this menace from the Pakistani society. Lt Hakeem Ullah brought laurels for the entire nation and his motivation and spirit of doing something special for his motherland became a reality. The entire nation is proud of him and salute to his undaunted courage and determination. May his soul rest in peace, Amen!
