Liberal days of Pakistan's state television PTV in 1970s

What I heard, before Zia's dark legacy.... We had kinda open liberal society, the bars and clubs were open freely, the media was under a censor ship but not very strict policies.
During Zia's Islamization of country, almost all above get banned and media ie PTV and few news papers got under very strict censor ship. Why I called Zia's legacy is a dark era, he brought strict censor ship on media but other hand he GIFT us Video Player (free to watch anything) he banned clubs( hira mandies )
prosituation but that Filth spread in our areas mohallahs etc, banning bars and people start drink in their houses etc. the other thing Drugs and Kalshankove culture he introduce is different and not related with thread.

Banning Alcohol and prostitution were right steps, however banning the liberal policy of PTV was wrong because it damaged pakistani TV and film industry.

According to Sharia is right I'm agree with you, but I'm talking the back lashes of those acts, the prostration moved in residential areas same as alcohol, Why coz you can't forced a law where system give it other open doors or options to do it. PTV was his living room, all his crap to brainwash public minds were telecast from their.

There is no new form of prostitution that has not existed prior to 80s in pakistan, Lahore always had heera mandi and immoral beghairat kanjar people used to go there to fulfil their sexual desires and it used to happen outside of heera mandi too. By the way heera mandi was not banned which is the reason it still exists in lahore. Alcohol is also used only by immoral cultureless kanjars in pakistan, no respectful family indulges or ever indulged in such practices before or after Zia period. I live in germany and alcohol is available freely in every grocery store but I have never drunk it, neither do I know any other respectful pakistani here who have ever drank it.

So I came across this rare video of singer Alamgir with a guest turkish singer Nazi that was telecast on PTV during 1975, I never thought that PTV was so liberal in those old days because I never saw any such thing on PTV during the decades of 80s or 90s. It seems like pakistan television was quite liberal untl late 1970s.

These two also performed on this song in many cities of pakistan including karachi, lahore, islamabad and peshawar in 1970s.

M8! This is nothing as compared to what our other channels are showing. Just look around, nearly all channels are showing this sort of kanjar nach gana, even worst than this. Ptv is far better as compared to other channels.

The electronic media in pakistan is now in crisis and this cultural crisis is actually due to fake unwanted "roshan khiyal" policy that was enforced during 2000-2008 regime of Mushi badmash. Mushi badmash is the main culprit behind the current degradation of cultural values and creativity on electronic media in pakistan. Gen. Zia did not do anything bad in my opinion , he was just following the tide of the time and was respecting only the mood of the nation as far as islamization was concerned. But Mushi badmash created his fake "roshan khiyal" fiasco out of his bum eventhough it wasn't warranted at all and killed the creativity once and for ever. Mushi badmash is the real destroyer of paksitani culture and media.

I totally agreed! But mushi is not solely responsible for this, the main cause of plight of our culture and media is because of indian dramas and films. These indian films has not only affected our culture but has also polluted our language.

Culture of Pakistan and India is totally different, this may not be bold for India but it is considered bold in Pakistan.
