Lebanon receives more artillery, humvees & grenade launchers from the U.S

The United States delivered another installment of 155 mm M198 towed howitzers to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) as part of a shipment that arrived in Beirut on 9 August.

"What we have here is about $50 million of equipment," US ambassador Elizabeth Richard told journalists during a ceremony held at the docks to welcome to the shipment. "There are 50 Humvees, 40 howitzers, 50 grenade launchers, and there is over 1,000 tonnes of ammunition."

She added that the United States had donated $221 million in equipment and training to the Lebanese security forces so far this year and that Lebanon is the fifth largest recipient of US Foreign Military Financing (FMF) aid in the world.
