In Lebanon, a Muslim Shia family was asked to leave its house because it was in a Christian neighbourhood.
Mohammed lived in a building in Hadath for around two years but when he tried to register the deed his application was declined.
The town, near Beirut, has been implementing the ban on property exchange from Christians to Muslims for years, but this latest case has revived the debate about the fragility of co-existence between different religions in the country.

I think some of the people that commented need to understand Arab traditions and habits. An Israeli Arab from Jaffa , for example ( who is a city not a village ) , can not just move to another Arab city just cause he too is Arab.

The reason is that in Jaffa lives all his family and all his clan and everyone knows him. In a new place he would be no one and it would take him 20-30 years till he and his family are fully integrated and he builds himself a reputation.. They too would try to prevent selling houses to outsiders.

This is why there is limited mixture among villages and populations and i imagine it is the same in Lebanon. Even more so when we are talking different religions.

But as i said , it is not just about religion but also about family and clan.

Why is such discrimination against the majority population tolerated in Lebanon?
Because the Christians are arabs..

They have christian military generals or what it was I talked with a Lebanese hardcore shia all he had to say was its OK to have them they are loyal and so on.. Warning him did not affect him..

Let them enjoy their Christians

#secularism

too bad that they allow all sorts of kut & kanjar khana in lebanon ,yet they still got religious issues

I watched a video by a lebanese guy once, nice Muslim guy, may Allah bless him, he explained that lebanon wasn't a religious place but it was still a sectarian place.
