Latest Egyptian Arms Procurements

.
What I dont get is, since Sisi came, the procurement news just exploded, buying this and that from world market. Before Sisi, all you heard was the free hardware they got from USA.
Some says that KSA is arming Egypt, why ? Any Egyption brother in here to shed light on this?

It has little to do with President Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi.

Egypt has not made any significant military purchases in a very long time and the Egyptian army has more than 150 aircrafts that will be phased out in the upcoming 5 years. As well as over 2000 tanks that will be obsolete. The Egyptian Navy was also in serious need of strengthening.

Besides Egypt's military and security is in the interest of all Arab states especially neighbors like KSA as Egypt's security and stability is KSA's security and stability and vice versa.

KSA and other GCC states are no doubt founding (loans etc.) a part of the recent purchases but the vast majority of the purchases are founded by the Egyptian military itself. Contrary claims are based upon ignorance from outsiders (non-Arabs) to be frank with you.

Lastly we should not forget about the Arab Joint Military Force that the Arab League agreeded upon establishing last year in Sharm el-Sheikh and President al-Sisi was a key player in establishing that joint military force which is the need of the hour for the Arab world. However it will take a few years for that to materialize but it should not be forgotten in the equation.

Egypt was saving its own money, they did not spend from their own budget for almost 30 years!!!!
Lets say savings of 2 $ billion a year, that makes it 60 $ billion.

First question popping up in my mind is why isn't this Arab Joint Military Force sent to Syria? I assume every Arab leader is interested in getting rid of Assad.

It has not been established yet (as in being functional) and once again contrary to popular belief there are different views on the Syrian conflict in the Arab world.

KSA for instance has said that they would only involve themselves militarily in Syria if a global coalition involving world powers (since they are directly involved in Syria and competing against each other - see the American and Russian role respectively), regional powers and most Arab countries was created to remove Al-Assad, ISIS and Al-Nusra terrorists.

Besides for such a thing to even occur there would need to be an anonymous agreement on such a step by all Arab countries. That is at least my belief. Besides the nature of the Joint Arab Military Force was to combat terrorism and possible outside enemies rather than internal Arab issues however the Syrian question is extremely complicated hence why the situation is as it is and hence the reaction of the world.

Anyway this is not the key here, the key here is that strengthening the Egyptian army was long overdue.

Not all of them, just the GCC that wants Assad out because he refused to let Qatar build oil and gas pipeline thru Syria. They destroyed Syria, because Assad stood up to them..
For the Muslim NATO force, it was created to subdue the other Muslim countries that doesn't subscribe to the Sauds doctrine. Egypt boulimia for defense systems financed by the Sauds fall is parallel to the Sauds hegemony in the area..
Sissi sold Egypt to the GCC and her army became a mercenary army for hire for the Sauds. Sissi is acting like, if Egypt is his daddy's farm...
