The reasons of that immigrants more due to foreign companies set up their business in Indonesia, particularly true for immigrants coming from Japan, South Korea, USA, Britain, etc

Recently some Indonesian local company like Gojek also hires foreign expats, so it is quite new development

The recent migration process can be seen by mix blood Indonesian. At least in my school before there was 1 mix Japanese-Indonesian girl in my class, there is other mix blood Indonesian-Japanese girl in other class (same year)

It seems like mixed race kids turn out either stunning head turners or weird mixtures. Seems like there is no in-between. Either they get the best of both races/genes or the worst.

Chinese very recent immigration will be difficult to measure since they will just add to our Chinese Indonesian ethnic group if they seeks citizenship in here. Basically they dont look different with our Chinese Indonesian community. Chinese Indonesian has already been accepted as one of our ethnic groups and they are not considered as immigrants anymore, so very recent Chinese migration will automatically get that privilage if they choose to be citizen and accepted.

Chinese very recent immigration and become Indonesia citizen for example is Chinese Badminton player, Huang Hua, who was at her prime become the best badminton player in the world.

Historically Indonesian people also come from mainland China. They are AustroAsiatic and Austronesian people who have sophisticated technic in farming and seafearing, those 2 skills make this people can breed much better than the more indigenous ones that are hunter gatherer in South East Asia.

Unlike in Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippine, we dont have negrito population which become their indigenous people. Our remaining hunter gatherer people are all Austonesian and Austroasiatic mix like Dayak people. There are Melanesian people like Papuan and Melanesian and Austonesian mix in NTT (same group of people like East Timorese) in Eastern Indonesia where large majority are Christians.

More recent migration before Western colonization where Arab, Persian, Indian, Chinese also settle in Indonesia and this is the reason Indonesia become Muslim.

And then migration during Western Colonization where Arab and Chinese are the main source ( Chinese Indonesian at this period adopt Christian and make them distinctive due to less mixed with the native population who are in large majority adopt Islam)
