What's new

Land area of Bangladesh is growing 16 square kilometers a year.

Ok you also be happy with pundits kicked out of Kashmir, India has a lot of land
Bharati hanuman bhakt always horse cry for kashmiri pandit refugee or decreasing hindu percentage in BD or Pakistan. But maintain total silence on how burmese kicked out half a million Indian origin hindu despite living there several generation. It is all about Muslim hate. This muslim hate also the reason why they have earned the title of model goyim justifying every atrocity of their zionist master against the Palestinian people just like the Rohingya.

what kind of a comment is this? You are accusing Indians of keeping silent on hindus' exodus from Burma and at the same time being biased against muslim. Looks like you have problem with either comprehension or expression or both.

India is officially against atrocities on Rohingyas or Palestinians. But jaundiced eyes can see only yellow.

OK OK, if you are not happy then let Allah sink that land.

A recent study by the Bangladesh Center for Environment and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) has revealed. According to the organization, the 70 kilometer land of Bangladesh is being broken every year or it has been lost due to river erosion. Contrary to this, 85 sq km of land is rising due to slit formation. Addition of land is more than lost land. As a result the landmass of the country is increasing year by year.
What??? I thought Bangladesh was losing land due to sea rise caused by global warming: Wikipedia.

. .
keep yourself hooked to indian propaganda and you will remain out of touch.
I can tell the global warming crowd that their worries about Bangladesh drowning due to sea-rise is due to them falling for Indian propaganda?

BD people here also want you to believe every bit of soil lost/gained are fundamentally equivalent (say in soil mechanics, economic use, liveability, long term sustainability etc)...if you question them on that, they show a surprisingly large void of knowledge. Simple raw cherry picked numbers are all they can handle it seems and you go beyond that and you are labelled a sanghi or some other term they cherry pick as well @django

But it benefits India and MM though, BD elite's delusion releases pressure and gives us better time and buffer to build our border defenses and strategy with the long term vision in mind for whats going to happen to BD land area/livelihood sustainability overall... even with the most optimistic projection of sea level increase. @Aung Zaya

Seems the half educated Indians are void of knowledge. It is true that 16 km2 of land is being created every year in the BoB near the shore. Thanks to India for sending us soil and silt till eternal.

Heard of a country called Holland that is at even lower elevation than BD?
It is rich and very secure from losing land.
Your wet-dream of ruin of BD will not come true.

Don't sneer at the Bangladeshis for that: a lot of their intelligensia - professors AND students were targeted and murdered by the Pakistani Army in 1971. It will take them another half-generation to recover, I guess. Patience and assistance are needed here.

It has nothing to do with miracles or other such things. Bangladesh is the largest delta on earth. Most of it's land we see is made out of silt deposition. In next years the rate will continue. But if we can take enough engineering measures we can achieve more land than our imagination. :) Need much more funding on research. :)

Yah obviously BD and Holland are soooo equivalent lol. How far back in history do you have to go to see Holland have the same per capita wealth and output as Bangladesh today?

Do the integrals of investment density (and especially transparency and efficiency of tax+spending) in hydraulic engineering over the last 50, 100 and 200 years etc between the two and you seriously want to do it overnight in the timeframes even the best case projection? Bangladesh has none of the economic growth rate needed, accumulated and projected equity, equity liquidity and the high end and general permeated intelligence and education and on top has stagnated atrocious corruption and institutions....with respect to the time frame of the projected sea level increase. You are not getting richer, smarter and better bureaucracy at the rate thats needed. You can watch it for yourself. All thats needed to see is how much is even being spent by BD (and actually happens on the ground after every crook middleman takes their cut) on flood management and coastal management measures today for what is established to come in 10, 20 year timeframes. Nowhere near enough and you are doomed if the dissonance grows exponentially or even linearly....both of which are the likely trends with the current capital investment density BD currently can barely scratch together along with its stagnant corruption level. BD will be the South Asian sinkhole, with a few silt islands left over (with the precious gained deposited "land" like mississippi delta that @bluesky thinks is like sliced bread)...but maybe you can somehow live on those and turn into a country of houseboats. Let's see.

The world can help them with that (you see lack of it in this thread already with the reply below mine in post #22, clinging to the fantasy and groupthink). We are out of patience and assistance to these ingrates. They can't even seem to help themselves....and the best part is they think they have already recovered the so call intelligence they think they had pre-71.

Please do not expect an addition of land will bring any benefits to the population of BD. Many of them will capture the new lands and marry four or more wives, each of whom will give birth to 10 children as it was in old days. The population will soar to 300 million in no time. Our people's attitude is so different from those of low lying Holland!!

@Nilgiri, learn Bengali to understand what the commentators say in this video. It is few thousand sq. km. of new island in the BoB. But, do not worry, BD will never become so large as India is. But, accept the reality.

Come on Man!! Its 2017. Check the population growth rate in recent years. More land in sea results in less pressure in our mainland. Trust me, it will not as worse as you expect.
