KP local govt elections: PTI loses ground to rivals as unofficial results come in

In the 64 tehsil council unofficial results obtained so far, the JUI-F has emerged victorious in 10 tehsil councils while the PTI has won in 9.

The ANP and independent candidates have won in five seats each from the tehsil councils while PML-N has won in only one tehsil council seat so far.

Unofficial results further confirm that the Jamaat-e-Islami has won a single seat in the tehsil council elections as well.

People were calling PTI a Pashtoon backed party and KP a "Stronghold" of PTI. And pointed them out multiple times that neither are Pashtoon "workers" of PTI nor is KP a Stronghold. Whenever PTI failed to deliver it will be gone. And now you all see it. Btw local bodies elections are in local areas hence it is expected that non-traditional politicians will win such elections. And it doesn't matter much which party they belong to. Majority of the winners will be independent.

Clearly a smart move

In 2018 general election, people were supporting PTI against PMLN, PPP and ANP as they were either considered corrupt or incompetent. But as global inflation, pandemic etc increased prices and people got frustrated from even PTI. This time majority were thinking "no political leader or party is going to deliver so it's better to give vote to a religious party candidate atleast they won't do much harm , also let's buy jannah with vote". That's why you see majority voting for JUI

PTI has a very slim chance to win elections in 2023 infact there won't be majority to any party. 2023 will see a coliation govt where as PTI will sit in an opposition. I see a very weak govt forming in 2023 which won't last long. Best case scenario for PTI will be to win around 70-80 seats to form a strong opposition.
