Cops repulse terror strikes on two checkpoints

Muhammad Irfan Mughal
November 6, 2023

• No let-up in attacks on security personnel in D.I. Khan; two injured
• Gunfight continued for over an hour before assailants fled
• Militants failed to demoralise cops, says RPO

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Though significant casualties were averted, militants again struck security personnel in Dera Ismail Khan — their fourth such attack within 48 hours in the district which has increasingly become vulnerable to assaults.

Three provinces — Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab — witnessed major terrorist strikes over the past three days in which 17 troops and five civilians lost their lives and at least 24 others, including police personnel, suffered injuries.

At least 10 attackers were killed by security personnel.

Though the overnight attack on the post in the limits of Gul Imam police station in Tank area of D.I. Khan was repelled, it clearly shows that the forces inimical to peace have become active again.

According to a police spokesman, militants stormed the check post with heavy weapons, adding that police promptly retaliated and in an ensuing exchange of fire Constable Waheed Gul received injuries.

The firing continued for about an hour and a half. The attack was repulsed and the militants fled, police said.

The injured constable was later shifted to the hospital.

District Police Officer (DPO) Iftekhar Ali Shah along with other officials and a contingent of police reached the site and cordoned off the area.

Later, a search operation was carried out in the area to locate suspects.

RPO Dera Nasir Mahmoodisti, who also paid a visit to the area, said that militants wanted to demoralise the police force with their cowardly actions, but they failed.

“I am proud of my forces who are acting like a wall in front of the militants and doing their duty bravely,” he added.

On Sunday evening, another constable sustained injuries in an attack on a post in the Roori area within the limits of Kulachi police station.

Police said an exchange of fire continued for 20 minutes during which attackers used small and heavy weapons. He said Constable Mir Aslam sustained injuries but his condition was out of danger.

Police contingents rushed to the post in order to assist the personnel deployed there, but the attackers managed to flee.

Once again, the TTP Khawarij, has targeted innocent civilians, aiming at the business and development of people.

- Thanks to the security forces' prompt action, many terrorists were killed. Unfortunately, two innocent civilians lost their lives in the attack
.- The report suggests that TTP carried out this attack due to a failed extortion attempt, as extortion is a common practice for TTP
- Indian social media accounts were the first to report this attack, highlighting TTP's deep and close connection with India.
- TTP's attempt to sabotage every development plan for the people and the region reveals their malicious agenda.
- Security forces are determined to pursue TTP relentlessly, ensuring they are removed from their holes and brought to justice.

4 militants, including ‘high value terrorist’, killed in Peshawar operation: ISPR

Iftikhar Shirazi
November 16, 2023

Four militants, including a “high value terrorist”, were killed by security forces during an operation in the general area of Badaber in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Peshawar district, the military’s media affairs wing said on Thursday.

In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the area on the reported presence of terrorists.

It said the troops effectively engaged the militants’ location and four terrorists were “sent to hell” including a “high-value terrorist, terrorist commander Samiullah alias Shenay, terrorist commander Salman alias Ahmed, terrorist Imran alias Muhammad and terrorist Hazrat Umar alias Khalid”.

The militants were “highly wanted by law enforcement agencies”, the ISPR said.

“Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the slain men, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities, including extortion and targeted killings in the area,” it added.

In another operation today, an “intense exchange of fire” took place between terrorists and army troops in the Kulachi area of the Dera Ismail Khan district.

According to the ISPR, Lance Naik Muhammad Ejaz Khan, a 34-year-old resident of Kashmir, embraced martyrdom during the operation.

It said that sanitisation of the surrounding areas was being carried out to neutralise any other terrorists found in the area. “The security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,” the statement added.

Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terrorist activities in recent months, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year.

On Wednesday, seven terrorists were killed by security forces in an operation in the Tank district.

Last week, a Pakistan Army officer and three soldiers were martyred in an IBO in the Tirah area of KP’s Khyber district while terrorists attacked the Pakistan Air Force’s heavily guarded M.M. Alam Base on November 4.

On Nov 3, 17 security personnel were martyred in an ambush, bomb blasts and security operation in Gwadar, Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat.

In September, data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said the number of militant attacks in August was the highest tally for monthly strikes in almost nine years.

Killed militants were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities, says ISPR

News Desk
November 19, 2023

The security forces on Saturday in a targeted intelligence-based operation killed four terrorists, including a 'High-Value Target'(HVT) in the general area of Khaisoor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district, the military said in a statement.

On the tip-off, the security forces effectively traced the terrorists’ location, and in ensuing battle four terrorists, including HVT, a notorious terrorist ring leader, identified as Ibrahim, alias Musa were killed, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Ibrahim was a prime target and had been in the wanted list of law enforcement agencies, the military's media wing added.

In additions, these terrorists were found in possession of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, and involved in numerous terrorist activities.

In the aftermath of the operation, efforts were underway to sanitize the surrounding areas, ensuring the elimination of any lingering terrorist threats.

"[The] security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country," the ISPR concluded.
